Thre is a draft movement afoot - Billy Bob Neck has been urged to run for President.  I'm not sure if he's going to run as a Republican or an independent, but regardless of what he chooses, I really think we need to help him with his candidacy.  So many are disillusioned with Rudy McRomney; it's time Republicans have an uncompromised option - someone that isn't afraid to talk the talk.

Bill O'Reilly and Fox News were the subjects of a sexual harrassment lawsuit brought by Andrea Mackris. Mr. O'Reilly has recently made the error of attacking the YearlyKos convention. As he decried the vile filth found at the DailyKos website, the bloggers struck back. As thousands of O'Reilly watchers flooded the website, they found excerpts from the Mackris lawsuit pleadings posted. Here's an example (after the flip):

My opinion?  She's absolutely correct to be doing what she is doing.

Oversight without accountability is like non-alcoholic beer - it taste like shit and there's no payoff at the end.

IMPEACH.

2. holding large corporations accountable - check
3. having more fun than David Vitter in the Huggies aisle - check

Reggie is now candles. As wonderful as he was in life, he is light to us all in death. With billions expected to die as a result of the climate crisis, Reggie's brave transition is an example to us all.

The thought occured to me that we aren't seeing very much protest music; at least compared to what came out of the Vietnam era...  I guess a draft will do something to motivate the twenty-somethings that dominate the music scene...

Then I thought about what an non-drafted service looks like.  I hearkened back to my days in the Marine Corps...  I was from upstate New York, and everywhere I went in the MArine Corps... well, looking back, it's amazing how many people were from the South.  Sure, there were plenty from California and New York - we were represented...  But it seems that a lot of my friends were from Mississippi, Kentucky, Arkansas, Iowa, Texas, etc... 

So I guess it shouldn't surprise me that this video is from a country group.   

This is how everything got started...  before this, there were one or two questions about immigration (from sheet-white, died in the cotton Republicans)...  but for the most part, his Townhall was dominated by those with health care and Iraq questions...

Bob Goodlatte represents a very rural part of Virginia.  His was one of four Congressional Districts deemed to be so blood-red by the National Democratic Party that they didn't even field a candidate against him in 2006.

The Democrats may want to rethink that strategy soon.

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Take Back America conference in Washington DC.  Unfortunately, I was only able to be there for a day, but as it turns out, it was pretty productive.  After their speeches, I was able to briefly chat with John Edwards, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson.  The story after the flip...

After the flip, you will find a portion of a converation Speaker Pelosi had with several bloggers, including myself, at 2pm EST on June 28, 2007.  There was much more to the call, but I transcribed the portion of the call that involved The War, the disjunct between the Democratic base and the representation we are getting from our leaders in Washington, the impeachment of Alberto Gonzalez and accountability in general.
