It is very clear that Matt has drank the Kool-aid and is buying the hype over truth. Sen McCain is replete with many changes on his positions. For example not shown, he really jumped sides with Bush himself. During the last election cycle he was bashed by the bush team only to be see arm in arm with the moron. No integrity. Not one bit. Maybe he believes in torture because when he was captured and tortured, he gave up his fellow troops information and positions. I guess he figures since he cracked they all will crack. Whet he does not know is that he was weak and still is. |

Let's be serious for a moment and look at the real underlying facts. The reason that Al-Queda hates us so is because of our military presence in Saudi Arabia, their high holy land. Does anyone think that keeping our military there for 50 or 100 years is going to help win the war against terrorism? Maybe if we removed our troops from the region altogether, we might have a chance at turning this around. Why do we even protect the Saudis? Because of their oil. If we wanted to force a democratic government then would it not be easier to start with one we are friends with like the Saudis? But then again, setting up a democratic government is NOT the reason we went into Iraq, is it. |

In response to David, yes we did start the problems in Iraq, but we will never defeat Al_queda by keeping a large military presence in that area as that is the main reason they hate us to begin with. Osama Bin Laden did not take exception to the USA in any real way until after the first gulf war where we loaded our military into Saudi Arabia. That was what got him started and until we no longer have our forces htere we will be fighting those who view that occupation as an insult to their faith. Right or wrong, that is still the main factor in their hatred of us. That and our constant need to tell them how to live. Was it not the Republicans who wanted less nation building and more domestic issues? How soon we forget.
