We urgently need to convince the Michigan Democratic Party to sanction a Primary Caucus in Michigan, so our votes will count! Michigan's January Primary was nothing more than a beauty contest and a straw-poll.
None of the candidates campaigned in Michigan, and most of the candidates removed their names from the ballot. When we voted, "Uncommitted" won a plurality of the "youth vote," a majority of the "black vote," and 40% of the vote overall.
If Michigan holds a caucus, the DNC will seat our delegates at the Democratic National Convention. If Michigan holds a caucus, supporters of all the candidates will finally have a voice in this election. If Michigan holds a caucus, Michigan's delegates could decide the winner, but if we don't party insiders may decide. If Michigan holds a caucus, the candidates will start discussing the issues that matter to Michigan, including the loss of manufacturing jobs and the health of the Great Lakes.
If Michigan holds a caucus, we can have a real choice, and we can make our vote count!

The moment is critical. We're nearing the end of a generation of back and forth rancor, defined by the tit-for-tat politics of just two elite political families. At this crucial turning point, Americans must choose a direction for the Democratic Party and for the country.
Believing in the promise of a better future, we can take a road less traveled: the path of hope - a path of reconciliation, communication, and solidarity. We can turn over the page, come together, and begin a new chapter in the book of American history.

Tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts -- the mantra is slowly choking Michigan. Our state is suffering from an severe economic downturn and a massive brain-drain. Companies are packing up and leaving, taking our jobs and our best and our brightest with them. Wake up Kalamazoo, wake up Michigan!
Now is the time for major investment. Michigan needs an Apollo-like program to diversify its economy, and thereby reduce our dependence on manufacturing. Yet instead of investing, we're pillaging our brand new 21st Century Jobs Fund.
Ask not what Michigan can do for you, ask what you can do for Michigan. Paying taxes is a patriotic duty. Taxes represent what we are capable of doing together for the common good. "America's high-five" needs a hand. Even the wealthiest cannot afford to disinvest in Michigan, because we're all in this together.
Kalamazoo, let's be patriotic about something other than tax cuts.

What do Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama have in common? Big ears.
Why should Barack Obama be elected President in 2008? It's the ears. I mean, it's not literally his ears. It's the idea of his ears. Just like Lincoln, Kennedy, and Reagan, Barack Obama has the capacity to listen. And America needs nothing more now than a President who knows how to listen.
Obama gained national fame after his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech, but he'll be remembered by Democrats and Republicans, progressives and conservatives, as a President who listened.

Americans today are showing a level of interest early in the 2008 presidential race that is completely without precedent. The intense focus of the American public on the race for the presidency, many months before even the first primaries and caucuses, reveals the extent to which regular Americans are longing for a new, meaningful politics. It is this extraordinary pang of hunger for change in America right now that explains Barack Obama's unlikely and astonishingly rapid ascent to become the most inspiring and hopeful figure in American politics since President Ronald Reagan, or even President John F. Kennedy.
And Barack Obama believes that the best advocates for the people are the people themselves, not politicians. That is why the Obama candidacy for President is more than a campaign, it is truly a grassroots movement.
