This clip is from Jan. 23, but I haven’t been able to get to it until now. But it has some very interesting moments that expose Bill O’Reilly’s tactics, as well as his true feelings about homeless vets.

BOR continues his lie that John Edwards blamed homelessness among veterans on corporations and the economy — but watch the “proof” he uses. Around :30 seconds in, BOR shows a clip of Edwards talking about Exxon Mobil's record profits and how America’s top 1% is getting wealthier and wealthier as the rest of America struggles. Both are true — Exxon Mobil posted its biggest profit ever and the gap has increased greatly between the rich and the middle class/poor under the Bush administration. But after Edwards' statement about Exxon/Mobil, you’ll see something interesting: an editing transition known as a “wipe”, then Edwards talking about homeless veterans. This is the “proof” BOR is providing to his viewers that Edwards is linking the two.

To run from his earlier claims that there are no/not many homeless vets, BOR has been saying that he’s REALLY attacking Edwards’ dishonest “demagogueing” of the link between the economy/corporate profits and homeless vets. However, I have never seen nor heard of a clip or quote where Edwards does this. To my knowledge, BOR has never shown a clip or quoted any publication where Edwards has linked homeless vets and the economy/corporations. If Edwards was constantly “demagogueing” this point as much as BOR claims he was, I’m sure such a clip or quote would exist. If BOR had either of these, I’m sure he would show them endlessly. But he hasn’t. Instead, he has to rely on an edited clip to “prove” that Edwards linked them.

I know a thing or two about editing video, and BOR’s clip doesn’t fool me for a second.

This video has gotten 9,000 views and 1100 ratings on YouTube.  The average rating is 1 star. 

In other words, people enjoy hating this video so much, that 1 out of every 9 people took the time to come to the YouTube site and rate this with 1 star.

And the comments have been disabled. 

As Jesse, my colleague at BNF IM'ed: "it's so bad it's good, it's gone all the way around the circle."  I've now watched it 3 times.

Our petition delivery to your offices and the resulting press it got (including #3 on Countdown that night) obviously got under your skin. Otherwise you wouldn't have had the story about it lead your show last Friday night. So we're back near the top of your enemies list, hopefully nestled in among George Soros, Media Matters, Twista, and falafel jokes.

So I'm assuming your interns will read this and summarize it for you, since I know you're not so fond of the internets. I know how much it scares you. I know how you don't like how it's been used to expose you as the fraud you are, so you try to convince your elderly audience that the internet is simply a den of liberal lies, pedophiles and porn. I know how much you must hate your audience to lie to them the way you do.   

That's the thing. I know a lot about you.

Like when I heard how your stalkerazzi "producer" Jesse Watters was badgering the vets at the petition delivery, asking them if they'd seen the clips of you saying that homeless veterans don't exist or if they were equally mad at Mark Cuban. When I heard that, I knew exactly what you would do. I even bet my friend dinner on it.

It's the same thing you did when Chris Dodd was on your show. He brought up the fact that you said that San Francisco deserves to be bombed by terrorists. Instead of acknowledging that you had indeed said that, you challenged him to tell you when and where he said it. When Dodd got the when right but not the where (your radio show, not your TV show), you lunged, saying that Dodd was wrong and didn't know what he was talking about. The important thing is YOU SAID SAN FRANCISCO SHOULD BE BOMBED BY TERRORISTS. The rest was a misdirect to convince the viewers you lie to so frequently.

So there’s this great scene in Showgirls, and any B-movie buff worth their salt knows which one I’m talking about.  In it, young, idealistic, hopeful, passionate Nomi Malone insists that she is not a stripper.  She’s a dancer.  Better than your average run of the mill Vegas showgirl.  Cristal Connors, the seasoned, experienced, been there done that dancer extraordinaire takes a moment to put her in her place.

Cristal Connors: You are a whore, darlin'.
Nomi Malone: No, I'm not.
Cristal Connors: We all are. We take the cash, we cash the check, we show them what they want to see!

Nomi and Cristal. It’s an old story.  Both solid dancers, both with their own set of fans.  Cristal has the talent and skill of a seasoned professional, Nomi has the passion and raw talent of an excited beginner – but at the end of the day, they both cashed the checks, right?

Clinton’s latest move to accept a debate on Fox is a clear Cristal Connors moment.  After the Democratic candidates made the decision not to debate on Fox, her decision to do so – is a moment of cashing the check.  Now it’s up to Obama.  Will he shove Cristal down the steps and become the new star of the Vegas review, or hold firm and refuse the Fox debate?

In the beginning there was Jim Crow and Jim Crow is the root of most evil.  Jim Crow made it necessary for Carter Woodson to create Negro History Week.  It’s purpose?  “…a means of undermining the foundation of the idea of black inferiority through popular information grounded in scholarship.”  In other words, to show that black people were as smart as white people and equal contributors to the world in which we live.  And I have no doubt that in 1926, the year in which Mr. Woodson created the week – it was an effective measure.  His original intent was that the week would be so successful that eventually it would not be necessary.  That black history would be so integrated into standard American history.  After all, most black Americans are direct descendants of slaves, slaves that built America and whose history was American as anyone else.  I wonder how he would feel to know that now the “celebration” lasts all month long.

In 1976, frustrated by the insufficiency of one week recognition, Negro History Week was expanded to Black History Month.  Six short years after the civil rights and the black power movements it was an important time to enforce and remind the country of Black America’s influence and impact.  History books had scarcely started covering black history separately and certainly not equally.  But today, as we sit at the beginning of the 82nd anniversary of Black History month, why the hell is black history still segregated from American History?  Why are there so many proponents of Black History Month keeping this tradition around?  Don’t they see how it is ruining the rest of the year? 

This simply a brilliant ad. Seriously, I can't think of any other description. It is simply brilliant.

Novick, who is running in the Democratic primary to challenge Republican Senator Gordon Smith in Oregon, takes the whole unbelievably counterproductive and STUPID media narrative of 2000 about whether Gore or Bush was "someone you'd want to have a beer with" and turns it on it's head. (invented, as far as I know, by Frank Luntz, who I heard using the phrase six years earlier when I took a trip with a college political history class down to DC--just to remind you that the media is liberal!).

Novick makes sure you know that he may or may not be the guy you want to have a beer with (although using the hook for a bottle opener might come in handy--watch and you'll see what I mean), but that kind of thinking is what helped us towards an unnecessary war, a crappy economy and disappearing civil liberties.

Once again, simply brilliant. Watch it!
