I have an interesting situation unfolding in a journalism class at Texas Tech. Several weeks ago, the instructor aired "Outfoxed" in response to a text chapter on the importance of verification. A fellow student's family has longstanding ties to Brian Wilson, Fox News' DC bureau chief, which resulted in a visit to the classroom and a general university lecture. His chief criticism of the documentary rested in his charge that Mr. Greenwald did not seek an interview with anybody at News Corp. He went on to criticize Moveon.org's financial contribution to the film.
When called to the carpet regarding News Corp's sacred cows, O'Reilly and Hannity, he claimed that they are not real journalists, but rather opinion commentators. It was eyebrow-raising to say the least. To that end, controversy within the ranks at Fox has emerged. More info can be found here.
I am seeking Mr. Greenwald's response to Mr. Wilson's criticisms. I've been a longtime fan of Mr. Greenwald's documentaries and admirer of his social activism. It would be a meaningful contribution to the class and to the university.
