Shouldn't 98% of Americans
be a Majority?

The House is about to vote on whether to extend Bush's tax cuts for the uber-wealthy. In this time of high unemployment and housing loss, we need to have better priorities!

Call your Representatives and tell them No Tax Cuts for the wealthy: (202) 224-3121

Once you've made your call, share with us how it went and why you oppose tax cuts for the wealthy.

Aloha, Congress, I cannot believe that this issue is even up for discussion on the side of the wealthy. Shame on those who promote this, shame on those who vote “Yes” for this! Mahalo.

    Steve Montefelice
Why the GOP, want to protect the upper 2 percent in this country voting any tax rise on the supper rich. I would like the GOP to admit just say the poor, and the middle class don;t matter, We don;t care, our priorities are for the rich, as long as our checks are coming in We will continue to protect the rich, from having to pay any tax increase for the supper rich, in other words the hell with anyone-else.

When did America become the country of rule by uber wealthy? WE the PEOPLE do not want anymore tax cuts for the wealthy. WE the PEOPLE want the uber wealthy to pay for the damages they did to this country. Tax the wealthy now.

Call the Republicans' bluff. Demand an end to the Regan Tax cuts - take us back to the Eisenhower ers tax rates - to end the quagmire fiscal mess we find ourselves in.

    Frank Gillice
No tax cuts for the wealthy. They do nothing for America.

President Obama is caving into the Republicans. He says that compromise is part of the American fabric...that he couldn't walk through the front door in the nation's founding. Wrong, Mr. President! Black people didn't compromise to get the chance to walk through the front door instead of the back door, or sit in the front of the bus instead of the back...they fought and fought hard...with their lives during the 1950s and 60s! Man up, for chrissake! Yell "NO!" to Bush Jr. tax cuts for the upper class!

    Mary Najeddine
Oh thank you very much I'll give her the message!

    Pat Hansen
I called both my Senators. Senator Udall (CO) said absolutely NOT will he consider voting for this. Senator Bennet said he won't vote to increase tax on middle class which tells me he will vote for with that vague statement. BTW-Senator's Udall's staff was exceptionally nice, THANKFUL that I called.

    Adam Cornford
I called the local offices of both my Senators, Boxer and Feinstein. For Feinstein (who I think will likely vote for the White House "compromise" since those top 2% are her friends)I had to leave a message because all her lines were jammed. For Boxer I talked to a local (SF) staffer and explained why from every point of view it was a bad deal. He listened politely and was noncommittal.

I live in Tennessee. How do you think it went? Senators: Lamar Alexander and the former mayor of Chattanooga Tennessee, Bob Coker. How do you think it went? And Chuck the new Representative for the 3rd district. How do you think it went? I live in Tennessee!

This is another robbery of the American people by the greedy rich. The USA is becoming a third world country. There will only be two class of people in this country, the fitly greedy rich and the dirt poor. Shame on all those corrupt politicians. The word politician should be know as a curse word by all.

I do not want see the Walton family keep billions when I am living month to month.

No tax cuts for the wealthy! Stick up for America

Keeps saying Boxer's her mail Box is full. Cannot leave a comment. We appose the tax cuts for the wealthy because we feel All Americans should do what they can to help their country when it is in need. We are tired of the rich getting a free ride; no more welfare handouts for the rich please. All Americans are needed to make this country strong..and we must all give; it can't just be left up to the middle class and the poor to keep this country running! Trickle down theory is no more than diarrhea on our heads. US money needs to stay in America and not overseas and most definitely not to large corporations that have no interest in the good of all citizens. I am not sure how capitalism become synonymous with democracy and when being beholden to the corporations and the rich became a sign of patriotism.

    I got no answer

    Michael Egan
i am a life-long democrat. I pledge, if the tax cuts go through I will not vote dem or give money or campaign for them in 2012. borrowing from China to give to the rich, leaving the debt to our grandchildren is unconscionable.

    Robert Orr
Well, I 'm sending this after the tax cuts were extended and I have several comments. 1. The Democrats have no balls 2. I will not make any more worthless contributions until my party stands up to the bullies. 3. If my family can live very happily on $100,000 per year in NJ where income and property taxes are very high, I don't see why people makings $5 million or $50 million can't pay a higher share on their income over $250,000. 4. I think we need to bite the bullet and pay as we go. Maybe we can't have a 60 inch HD TV, but who cares when people are starving and don't have jobs! Don't ask for any more $$$$$ until you grow a set Democratic party. I have more , but it's all falling on deaf ears anyway.

    David Quinones
No to Bush tax cuts, its unfair in light what has happened at Wall Street.

    Tony Howell
I agree. Extending the tax cut to the rich is Bad policy

    Walter Oakman
call was easy. went straight to my congressmans office. i am agaist the tax cuts but also against extending unemployment. we cannot continue to give everyone, everything in this country. the rich don't deserve special treatment and neither do those receiving entitlements.

    Jill Bennett
I contacted my representatives prior to the tax "deal". Subsequent to the disappointing result, I receieved an email from Organizing for America asking me to view a video of Pres. Obama justifying the outcome. OFA solicited my feedback. Here's what I wrote to them: To Whom It May Concern: With all due respect, I feel that President Obama should have continued to FIGHT into the new year, if necessary, against tax cuts for the wealthiest. Last week I sought to persuade hundreds of people in my social network by posting the following as my facebook status: "Continuing unfunded tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% is utter fiscal IRresonsibility. It's also inhumane while many citizens go without basic necessities, e.g., health care. We have a huge deficit. Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest was a terrible idea then, and is an unconscionable idea now. PLEASE JOIN ME AND TAKE A MINUTE TO SEND A MSG. to Pres. Obama at whitehouse.gov., and your reps. at house.gov and senate.gov THANKS!" *** That about says it. Accordingly, there was far too little fight and too much compromise on this issue. And this will affect real Americans lives. There will be that much more debt and that much less money in the budget for things like health care for the tens of millions of Americans who can't afford it. And due to this factor alone, LIVES WILL BE LOST. Now that's not a pleasant or popular thing to say to our president. I frankly regret having to say it, but I'm following my conscience in saying it. Also, I did volunteer work to help to put President Obama into office. And I did volunteer work during the November 2010 election to try to give him a congress who would support him. But frankly, I'd like to see the members of congress RISE UP and take this fight forward. Unfortunately, any such movement is probably doomed without the leadership of the president. I have no doubts that President Obama is truly well-intentioned. However, this matter gives me serious pause with regard to whom I will support in the next presidential election. Yes, it's just that important to our country's well-being. I would like the president to seriously reconsider. Sincerely, Jill Bennett

I oppose the Bush cuts for one reason and one reason only,I NEED THE MONEY!!!

I called the Hill and asked to transfer to Barney Frank's office (Massachusetts). After about 15 rings, the operator picked up again stating that obviously he does not have voice mail!!! (WHAT?!) So, then I asked for his email, and she did not have that on file. Unacceptable. I did find email information at his web site though, and will try to leave my message there.

    Robert Ehlebracht
I called, spoke with a representative for Congressman Jackson and asked that he vote against extending the tax cuts for the wealthyiest Americans. He said he would pass the message on.

    Barbara Esposito
I talked to the woman who answered the phone about Social Security (not cutting it and raising the upper limit), no tax cuts for the wealthy, and the law to make oil, coal, & gas industries subject to clean air and water acts. She wrote down my comments & said she would pass them on to the Congressman.

    Ross Bullard
The Democratic party is spinless and runs from fight every time. I've had it,I will not waste any more time on jello spined Democrats or their party.

    Thomas Card
I called my Representatives office. (Tim Johnson District 15 in Illinois) He thinks the tax cuts should be extended. I'm disappointed and will be sure to express my thoughts by calling everyday to ask if he's willing to change his mind.

    Carmelo Rodriguez
Before the tax cuts there was a booming economy and a surplus. Bush's tax cuts, which benefited the wealthy the most, has brought a wrecked economy and rocketing deficits but the Republicans want to make the cuts permanent. It is an illogical position.

    Linda Mattingly
We all should pay our fair share for the greater good. The wealthy use their money to buy politicians and the supreme court , they don't usually create more jobs with the extra tax money.

    Dave Frank
Trickle down economics failed miserably under Reagan and Bush. It resulted in high unemployment, massive debt, and a failed economy. Tax cuts that favored the wealthy did not work then and won't work now. The bought and paid for GOP of the rich and powerful should quit lying. Tax cuts never have created jobs or boosted the economy. Stop the mindless lying, and while they are at it, they ought to force Exxon/Mobil, General Electric, and other tax subsidized corporations to pay more than 0.0% in taxes. If Republicans have their way, they'll soon turn the U.S. into old England during the time of Robin Hood--a country filled with poor peasants and ruled by a handful of aristocrats.

    David Day
My representative is Republican and he doesn't care what the Democratic voter thinks - he's bent on seeing Obama and the nation fail in any kind of recovery!

    Sandra Bondell
I REALLY HATE THAT THE TOP 2% OF OUR NATION,S WEALTHIEST ARE CALLING ALL THE SHOTS. EVEN THE GOP HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. THE REST OF US WORK FOR THE 2% AND HELP CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WEALTH.

I noticed that you post abstracts of their articles in www.mixx.com. 've Also thought about sending for www.addlinksto.com ? Hope you enjoy the tip!

I left message with operator at the US Congress saying: "Tax Cuts for the Rich -- NO WAY!!"

    Claire Strong
I continue to call my reps and urge others to do so to denegrate the Republicrooks for having the NERVE to demand taxcuts to the wealthy while they have yelled and screamed about the deficits. Unfortunately, the Dems allowed them to change the subject from JOBS and the ECONOMY to deficits and THEY could have stopped these thugs had Weak Harry Reid CHANGED THE FILIBUSTER! The Dems and Obama are going to continue to LOSE because they are weak, wimpy, do not stand together and seem incapable of forming their OWN clear and repeatable messages!

    Linda Perreault
I have contacted Senator Reed & Whitehouse, Congressmen Langevin & Kennedy. They all know what has to be done. I have urged them to fight the opposition. I'm unemployed, through no fault of my own. I have just about enough change to buy gas for an interview. All my money is spent on Bills and Rent. I will be homeless after dedicating 40 yrs of working and taxpaying for the American Way of Life. I have volunteered 1000's of hours assisting soup kitchens, after school programs, neighborhood clean-ups, worked to bring AmeriCorp programs to my state and targeting youth to participate in prevention programs. Volunteering helped to keep my family active. One of my son's paid his own way through college and has a Doctorate in Law. The youngest son has disabilities and to keep medical insurance I had to work two jobs. By me not being home my son manifested some behavior problems that years later still affect him. There was a 15-20 year span when I couldn't go on vacation. That time has come again. Now I fear homelessness. I remain hopeful that a job will come my way. I pray that greed and polictal tactics for the 2012 election will cease and WORK for change now! Worry about NOW not 2012 I beg of you. If cuts start at $500,000 or $1,000,000 that would be acceptable. That is not really alot of money for truly small business people. Some small business are not really SMALL business just broken down from larger corperations. WE THE PEOPLE need the rich to pay their share.

    Durward Leeper
From 1944 to 1963 the marginal tax rate for over $400000 was over 90%. Now they are crying about a mere 4% increase. Well, not all of them. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates were against the tax cuts when the Republicans invented them. To get us out of the Republicam Mess increasing taxation and strenghtening the dollar would be the strongest possible medicine.

    Iris Fiorito
I teach at Los Angeles Valley College and at Pasadena City College. We need more money to educate young people from the middle and poor class who can't afford to pay the high fees paid by the children of the rich.

    Peggy McConnell
Today I heard from a senator on the radio that all would get a tax cut on their first $250,000. The wealthy would still get a tax cut, but one that would be fairer. Many of our Senators are among the wealthy. They would be giving themselves a substantial tax cut if they continued the tax cuts for the wealthy.

    Janice Clark
Extending the tax cuts for the rich is absolutely unacceptable. When Clinton raised taxes on this group, we had a surplus. We need that money now to get us out of debt for two unfunded wars which enriched private corporations. Unscrupulous players in the financial markets also made big profits at the average Americans expense and caused The Great Recession. It is time for them to pay for their greed.

    Julia Mendoza
I oppose continued tax cuts for the wealthy because the wealthiest Americans are already sitting on piles of unused money that they already don't need - while millions of Americans are facing homelessness and serious financial crisis. We bailed out the wealthy already - now it's time they returned that favor to their nation in its time of need.

    Laura O'Donnell
These tax cuts must end. We must go back to being REAL Americans and not sheep of Plutocracy that we've become. This country MUST get back it's dignity by being Government for the people again. End the tax cuts now for the rich and stop selling out on America.

    John Sullivan
Doesn't anyone on the right find it ironic that we have to take money away from our parents social security and medicare. Take money away from unemployment benefits for Americans struggling, cut education benefits for our children along with any other money that may go for working class Americans, to pay for billionaires tax cuts. Doesn't anyone on the right find it ironic than no one says out loud that the tax is on income. How many small business owners pay themselves more than 200K annually. To the right, small business is Bechtel and Halliburton. GE and Toyota. The enemy of the right are teachers, police, firefighters, union auto workers. Their friends are Chinese, Japanese, Saudis, etc. American working stiffs are off the radar. We don't contribute enough I guess.

    Lee Buffinton
Urged my representative to oppose further tax cuts for the super rich and urged him to make the Social Security taxes fairer...i.e. having those earning over $106,800 pay the same rate the rest of us are paying!

    William Hendrickson
Show me what the tax cuts for the wealthy created under President Bush have done so far for the nation.

    Jocelyn Triggle
no higher taxes for the rich they don't need them

    Quentin Hancock
Republicans say that we can't afford to extend unemployment benefits to 2 million jobless Americans at Christmas time, but we can save that money and more for the wealthiest Americans by extending Bush era tax cuts. It isn't just wrong. It's morally abhorrent, and Republicans should be ashamed of themselves.

    Susan Cadman
Sent email to Darrell ISSA, and got back stock email saying that everyone was taxed too much, including the top 2% and that everyone needed to have the tax cuts extended. He's the richest man in congress, what else could you expect?
