You have to pass over statements like &quot;s<span class="vitstorybody"><span class="vitstorybody">everal of the children were repeatedly fondled by Leal, while others were forced to grope her and perform oral sex on her&quot; and &quot;</span></span><span class="vitstorybody"><span class="vitstorybody">they were deprived of mental, medical and dental care after their complaints&quot; rapidly so that your brain doesn&#39;t have time to take them and savor them and swallow them and come to a full realization of what they mean. And to start forming connections, such as the live wire which connects these events to the <a href="http://www.taylordailypress.net/articles/2008/01/18/news/news01.txt">rape of a woman</a> in T. Don Hutto detention center. Or the <a href="http://www.visalaw.com/00jun1/13jun100.html">abuse</a> at Krome detention center which appears to have been so extensive that two women became pregnant as a result.</span></span></p><p>The kids in this case, mostly young teenagers, are already in this incredibly horrifying and vulnerable position. The Nixon, Texas detention center where the abuse took place houses unaccompanied migrant youth who have been caught attempting to cross the border. These are just kids who have made a journey which has killed hundreds of people, maybe all the way from Chiapas or Guatemala or even just right across the border in Matomoros, but all the same they are doing it alone, knowing that there are vigilantes out in those deserts with guns, knowing that they might disappear and that there will always be a question mark implied within their name in family discussions.&nbsp;</p><p>So here they are, in a foreign country, and they probably don&#39;t speak the language. Some may be trying to reunite with their families, while others may be taking on a burden for those they left back home, and others might just be striking out on their own independence. And their first encounter with the authority of this country results in them being completely degraded and traumatized and neglected, and when they dare to think that this corruption is abnormal and that they can seek correction by airing their complaints, they are again degraded and abused.</p><p>When will our government wake up to the fact that contracting out imprisonment and war can&#39;t do any good? Call your congressman and let them know you want them to throw away all the tasers and fire all the bad cops.</p> <p>Under Utah law, when a motorist refuses to sign a ticket, a police officer can do things the easy way, or the hard way. He can make an arrest and jail the offender, or he can simply write "refused to sign" on the dotted line. Either way, the motorist has to pay the fine or show up in court to fight the ticket.
