And I'll be glad to send you the statistics, almost all of that investment and any aspect of it will be kept in the United States of America..."

JOHN MCCAIN:"Government must be attentive to the impact on families of parents who have lost jobs in our changing economy that won't come back. Our programs for displaced workers are antiquated, repetitive and ineffective. Many were designed for a time when unemployment was seasonal or a temporary consequence of an economic downturn. Not for a time when systemic changes, wrought by the growing global economy have, while promising undreamt of opportunities for ourselves, in many historically poor societies, have cost too many parents the jobs they had assumed would be theirs for life. For the loss of work and the resources it provides families come just as injurious losses to the emotional health of families. Work provides more than an income; it's a source of self-worth, pride and sense of purpose. Children learn as much from observation as instruction. The mother or father who has lost hope, along with their job, can unintentionally impart that hopelessness to their children. A welfare check can't give a parent a sense of purpose, and among—

--and among the most important things children can inherit from their parents is a sense of purpose and an aspiration to be part of something bigger than themselves."

McCain advisers lobbied for Airbus

John Sidney Hussein McPain's advisers are causing a little stir:

Top current advisers to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign last year lobbied for a European plane maker that beat Boeing to a $35 billion Air Force tanker contract, taking sides in a bidding fight that McCain has tried to referee for more than five years.
Two of the advisers gave up their lobbying work when they joined McCain's campaign. A third, former Texas Rep. Tom Loeffler, lobbied for the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. while serving as McCain's national finance chairman.
EADS is the parent company of Airbus, which teamed up with U.S.-based Northrop Grumman Corp. to win the lucrative aerial refueling contract on Feb. 29. [...]
"The aesthetics are not good, especially since he is an advocate of reform and transparency," said Richard Aboulafia, an analyst with the aerospace consulting firm Teal Group. "Boeing advocates are going to use this as ammunition."

Here's what Gramps says:

"I had nothing to do with the contract, except to insist in writing, on several occasions, as this process went forward, that it be fair and open and transparent," he said at a meeting with voters in St. Louis. "That was my involvement in it."

What's not to believe? He's so fair and open and transparent. I'm not being in the least bit sincere, by the way. Why? Because I'm doing my best McPain impression.
