A TASER is a terrorist instrument of social control designed to intimidate the masses by punishing one individual in a public forum.

TASERS have failed to replace firearms as lethal force but instead, have been added to the arsenal of "preemptive" weapons to "KILL" your First Amendment rights through a national campaign of intimidation.

TASERS are a license for the practice of legalized SADISM by bad cops who can shoot you with a jolt of excrutiating electronic pain with impunity.

The presence of "police" in a public forum has come to mean that you risk consequences of extreme pain, arrest, humiliation and a threat of death if you are otherwise inclined to speak truth to power.

Immoral and illegal practices at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison mirror our corrupted federal government's civilian agenda for the incremental and insidious Orwellian intimidation of citizens to would "dare" to excersize Constitutional First Amendment rights on US soil.

In sharp contrast to the UPD TASERING incident, police are not even allowed to be on a school campus in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

TASERS show potential for police brutality on a massive scale.

TASERS have become little more than public pornography resulting in a creeping degradation of the human spirit.

The medical consequences of ndividuals susceptible to mental trauma and PTSD at witnessing a friend or peer group member screaming and writhing in extreme pain have been completely ignored in a rush to deploy more and more TASERS -- particularly when the punishment by TASER is inflicted on a person who is perceived by the public to have COMMITED NO CRIME.

The TASER is a de-humanizing weapon of social control. Demand that TASERS be removed from college campuses and police depertments while you still can. The indiscriminate use of TASERS and recent legislation is your warning that the government plans to declare MARTAL LAW for any reason they choose.

Increasing militarization of police in the US employs mass intimidation to the exercise of Free Speech when an entire group is witness to the delivery of writhing pain to one group member by police using overwhelming force.

The number of agencies using TASERS in the US is up from 500 to an astonishing 11,000 during the years of the Bush administration largely due to federal cuts to the COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) program. This step backward has effectively moved funds away from CRIME PREVENTION into the more draconian practice of CRIME CONTROL. The TASER allows enforcement agencies to employ preemptive military tactics against "suspected" law violators.

The Bush administration targeted the COPS program for budget cuts every year since 2001. In fact, in 2003 Bush proposed eliminating COPS altogether. In 2005, Bush sought a staggering 86 percent cut for the COPS program with none of the remaining funds set aside for hiring officers causing massive layoffs. This policy has left law enforcement weaker at a time when national security should have called for more funds for COPS prevention and more police on the streets.

The result could not have been more predictable than if the Bush administration had planned it: The US has suffered a predictable increase (2%) in violent crime with firearms reportedly used 70% of the time.

This degrading trend is expected to create leaner, fewer and meaner police willing to overlook critical First amendment issues in order to stop even peaceful forums from escalating into the aggressive exercise of free speech on a college campus by political activists armed only with only a book and a rare opportunity to speak truth to power.

The Fraternal Order of Police have declared Andrew Meyer a "Threat to Society". This astounding hubris comes from a police BROTHERHOOD organization that has a reputation for making statements reflecting the opinions of ALL law enforcement officers whether they are FOP "members or not."

So far, officer Jeff McAdams - head of the local FOP - has not spoken to retreated from the outragious statement made by the State FOP leaders

Andrew Meyer is seen attempting to avoid violence even while under attack by UPD. Is this an action that deserves a criminal charge of "inciting a riot" against the owner of a book?

Throughout the attack by UPD, Meyer is seen valiantly protecting his book from damage by the uniformed attackers. In fact, police had to TASER Meyer to make him release his grip on the book so they could handcuff him for having read it.

But not once did Meyer use the book as a weapon to strike back at his attackers. Instead, he succeeded in protecting the book until overwhelming force and the pain of electrocution stripped it from his hand.

Even before considering the use of a TASER we can see a police force ignorant and/or intolerant of reasonable limits of constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of expression and protected speech.

This is a failure of the UF leaders to insist on a police force that adheres to enforcement policies that reflect the knowledge and tolerance taught in their own prestigious schools of Law, ethics and social sciences.

Instead the UF has settled for police force that operates more as a team of "bouncers" rather than a coordinated force to protect and assist the student body.

This method of campus security falls far short of what is expected or acceptable at a Florida, flagship university.

Using a TASER on a student who has not broken any law is a dangerous precedent and domonstrates how a bad law enforcement decision can escalate to needless physical violence.

UF Police Taser Student During Kerry Forum - The Video

There are different versions of this story, but Senator Kerry has condemned the arrest and even Michelle Malkin has defended him (although, upon thinking about that...).

Seriously, watch the video. I certainly don't think Sen. Kerry was at fault, in fact you can hear him saying he wants to answer the question as the kid is being arrested.

And to be quite honest, this kid was trying to stir the pot, not in asking tough questions, but in purposely saying snotty things to those in the audience who wanted to attend a serious forum.

With all that said, one wonders if this has anything to do with Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine. Are we all so numb after the preemptive war, the killing, the torture, etc., that police are able to behave in a brutal manner (c'mon, tasering a kid when there are five cops and one student?) and thos watching have become inured to the screams of a victim?
