http://bravenewfilms.org/topics/boycott 2008-09-23T16:59:29Z http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/54370-maybe-it-was-time-to-start-boycotting-the-fox-network-as-much-as-fox-news 2008-09-23T16:59:29Z thedailyphosdex <div class="post_content"> <p><p>Something worth thinking about on top of the Outfoxed and Fox Attacks campaigns targeting Fox News Channel and its excesses of lies, half-truths, distortions and perversions of journalistic ethos:</p><p><em><strong>Videlicet</strong></em>, an outright boycott of the Fox network on FreeVee, as suggested by this &quot;letter to the editor&quot; from this week&#39;s midweek issue of the Wisconsin Dells (WI) Events:</p><blockquote><p><strong>Make a difference and stop watching FOX TV</strong> </p><p>We can make a difference simply by what we view on TV. </p><p>I hope you will watch the Outfoxxed video, which is accessible on the Internet. It is long and you probably will think that you have heard this before. I did. The difference is that after watching this I feel compelled to take action. </p><p>Here are some programs that are sponsored by the FOX network: <em><strong>House</strong></em>; <em><strong>The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Terminator)</strong></em>; <em><strong>Fringe</strong></em>; <em><strong>Prison Break</strong></em> and <em><strong>24</strong></em>. </p><p>There are others. I know because I have watched them. I will no longer be watching FOX. Remember the amount of money they make is based on how many people watch. The programs listed above are particularly manipulative, well produced and generate a large viewing. They are slick. Any time you watch FOX, you know where the money is going. </p><p>Here are my two cents - it is not as loud as FOX but if enough people get on board we will have a strong populist movement. </p><p>FOX(y) philosophy is that it&#39;s OK to distort the truth. It&#39;s OK to lie, to torture, to take chances with other people&#39;s lives and a whole list of other things to save us from some vague threat of domination from Russia, terrorism, communism, liberalism, atheism, gay marriage, abortion, drugs, vitamins and disease. The ends justify the means is the only rational way to deal with these threats. </p><p>FOX down plays things that have corporate interest even if they are killing hundreds and even thousands of people such as alcohol, food additives and air pollution. It advocates drilling and money for oil companies in place of real incentives for cleaner energy alternatives that would produce American jobs. </p><p>The list goes on. Do you feel apathetic and unable to make a difference? This is exactly the result that supports the driving forces behind this movement. They need your apathy. So sit on your couch and do nothing. Absorb right wing propaganda as is presented by FOX on channel 47 in the Madison and surrounding area. Happy viewing. </p><p>Or, let&#39;s start a movement. Let&#39;s have this movement be inspired by love, not fear. Let&#39;s have it respect individuals more than corporations. Let&#39;s have it be American in showing that we care about our people without distinction: rich or poor, young or old, Republican or Democrat, black or white, straight or gay, Christian or not. We can make a difference. If you are ready and agree, stop supporting FOX network. After this video, I will no longer refer to them by name, other than calling them &quot;conservative critics&quot; or &quot;conservative pundits&quot;. That also includes talk radio pundits, internet bloggers and newspaper/magazine columnist. No more mentions of Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage or Ann Coulter. From now on, anytime I post a video derailing against that network or these controversial pundits, they will be called &quot;conservative critics&quot;. And when Senator Barack Obama mentions either name or that network, I will donate a portion to the Obama campaign. Thanks for viewing and post comments at the bottom. Take a stand against the corporate owned media and turn that television, radio and the internet smear machine off. I guess in order to get attention; I guess you keep doing what you do in order to get the Illinois senator&#39;s attention. That&#39;s Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Bill O&#39;Reilly and Greta Van Susteren&#39;s plan! Attack, attack, attack! They are so desperate to bring Democratic Senator Barack Obama on, Hannity called out the senator to appear on his shows. Bill O&#39;Reilly shoved a man working with Obama, and even called upon an unscientific poll to urge the senator to come on his show. Fox News is strident to say at least. The senator and his campaign have a frosty relationship with the network, and getting the senator to at least appear on prime time programming will prove very difficult. With Obama&#39;s heavy scheduling, and constant attacks from Fox News, it&#39;s basically going to be a: &quot;I&#39;ll scratch your back, if you scratch mine&quot; moment! In order to generate huge ratings and of course, bragging rights: They want the most popular candidate in the 2008 Presidential Election. Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes, the time will come when the viewers will change the channel and ratings will go down. Bill O&#39;Reilly, you may be the top of cable news, but sooner or later, you will screw up and the fan base will turn their back on you! Trust me; an ego can quickly be deflated. And with that said, I see that Neil Cavuto is already marching to the tune of hang the John Edwards affair over Barack Obama&#39;s neck. This is what a &quot;business program&quot; such as &quot;Your World&quot; is. I bet you, there are more liberal viewers and African Americans watching the programs now! My main two reasons for all the disgust towards Fox News is: Hannity&#39;s obsession with Senator Barack Obama (and Jeremiah Wright), and the attacks on the African American community by not only O&#39;Reilly, Hannity and Colmes, but other pundits and critics of the African American community. [Progressive and civil right groups] are practically waiting for O&#39;Reilly to slip up in some controversial quote! They are begging for Hannity to continue to say something about Obama in a negative tone. Cause people are waiting for the simple slip of the tongue coming out of Bill O&#39;Reilly, John Gibson, Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, Gretchen Carlson, Bill Hemmer, Megyn Kelly, Martha McCallum, Carl Cameroon, E.D. Hill, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, Newt Gingrich, Karl Rove, Dick Morris, Geraldine Ferraro, Jesse Lee Peterson, Juan Williams, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter and John Kasich. They are waiting for something so controversial; they will rally up and boycott the corporate owned sponsors! The viewers will urge corporations to drop their support, have the commentator or network reprimanded, and/or terminate the commentator. I am not going to allow Fox News and talk radio downgrade African Americans, Latinos and Senator Barack Obama. I will not allow this network to downgrade any race, sexuality, gender or political views. Take the time to realize there&#39;s an opposition. Bring them on! The only thing they know about me is that I am an American. These people are quite cynical of the videos, Senator Barack Obama and those who support me. And yes, I am aware of them. They will rate the video poor. They want to attack me personally with bigotry and stupid comments! They want to threaten me! They will try to box you in with comments about being supportive of Obama. Ignore that! Make sure you are ready with facts. Cause the opposition is going to try to debate you! Don&#39;t fall for &quot;gotcha&quot; questions and &quot;ad hominem&quot; attacks. And of course, they can call me every name in the book! They don&#39;t know me! I don&#39;t support the Black candidate; I support the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama. And as for those PUMAs, Republicans who support race-baiting tactics, conservatives, and those who still don&#39;t get it.
