GM turned it down. Even the lawmakers assisted in keeping GM in Dayton. They included Representative Mike Turner, Republican, Ohio Senators George Voinovich, Republican and Sherrod Brown, Democrat. The local mayors of Kettering, Moraine and Dayton were hoping they can delay the inevitable. But time has come.</p> <p>In the beginning, there were 40,000 jobs at GM, then 18,000. At last check almost a tenth of workers (less than 1,800) are going to be out of jobs.</p> <p>GM, Chrysler and Ford got a $17.5 million dollar bailout from The Bush Administration. President Bush and President Obama both warn that if the automakers can't figure out a solution, they lose the loan.</p> <p>Corporate executives had to lose the private jets and stock in order to gain some money.</p> <p>Republican Senator Richard Selby of Alabama is very critical of this decision to bailout the automakers. </p> <p>What the Bush administration offered was a Band-Aid to a gun shot wound!</p> <p>For the conservatives watching, don't blame the unions for the GM closing. This is not the fault of any union, CEO, manager or employee.</p> <p>Times are hard for everyone, and the worst is yet to come. </p> <p>FAQ- The reason why I call this a Tour of Poor Dayton is because of the area's declining population, jobs, boarded homes, business closings and economic turmoil in Montgomery, Miami and Greene Counties. And most likely Ohio in general. I have a reason for the title. If you have concerns, send me a message. A retro 50s look at a style of cruising and travel now vanished. Views of the ship leaving the Port of Seattle, with streamers, confetti and visitors waving goodbye -- something rarely seen today. See the ship sail up the inside passage... with passengers dancing, dining, playing shuffleboard and man nostalgic scenes of an Alaska steamship far different from the massive ships sailing the Inland Passage today. The Alaska Steamship Company operated passenger service from Seattle to all ports in Alaska from 1895 until 1954. During the summer weekly sailings visited the Inside Passage. The line challenged all kinds of winter conditions and operated year round offering regular sailings as far north as Nome. These are family films and footage taken during the 1920s through the 1950s. This historical district is the part culture, part entertainment, and part neighborhood all surrounding the vicinity of Wayne Avenue, Fifth Street, Sixth Street, Brown Street, Jackson Street and Patterson Boulevard. These local streets guide us through an area that was once home to many XXX Porn, crime, and vacant buildings. McGee Boulevard.</p> <p>The Paul Laurence Dunbar homestead is located in West Dayton.</p> <p>The area around Edison and Antioch is known for prostitution. </p> <p>The areas around Westwood have high crime and many abandoned homes. The Westwood Community Center is being rebuilt and will open within the year. Of course, Kroger is closed. The former location of the United Theology Seminary is located in University Row neighborhood.
