War and the media - the two have not partnered so well since Vietnam. But in the days of the Internet, conservative talk radio, and Fox News, has the dynamic changed?

Kissinger says only a bit, and that the media remain heavily biased against military action.

Additionally, the 1960s concept that the U.S. government is somehow an evil enterprise is alive and well.

Henry Alfred Kissinger was the 56th Secretary of State of the United States from 1973 to 1977, continuing to hold the position of Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs which he first assumed in 1969 until 1975. After leaving government service, he founded Kissinger Associates, an international consulting firm, of which he is chairman.

Peter M. Robinson is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts Hoover's television program, Uncommon Knowledge. Robinson is also the author of three books: How Ronald Reagan Changed My Life; It's My Party: A Republican's Messy Love Affair with the GOP; and the best-selling business book Snapshots from Hell: The Making of an MB.

MCCAIN: " I think that North Korea is a threat in that they are building weapons of mass-, nuclear weapons, and I'm a little skeptical about this latest agreement, we'll have to see how it plays out. We made another agreement with them under President Clinton in 1994, and it turned out to be a sham because we didn't do what Ronald Reagan always used to say, trust but verify. We trusted but didn't verify. Uh, Iran, my friends, this latest National Intelligence Estimate that they have stopped the weaponization, they're still moving forward with quote enrichment of uranium which is a major component, there's two components, one is the enrichment, the other is the weaponization. Enrichment takes a long time, weaponization takes a short time. They could have taken a deal which would have had the Russians oversee them. But fundamentally, what I see from Iran today is that they are still announcing their dedication to the destruction of the state of Israel. They are still supporting terrorist organizations, Hamas and Hezbollah. They are still exporting explosive devices into Iraq, killing young Americans. They are still trying to extend their influence throughout the MIddle East, so I view Iran as still a great threat to peace in the world and particularly in Iraq and in the region."

Douglas Feith's remarkable War and Decision: Inside the Pentagon at the Dawn of the War on Terrorism is the first book written by a former Bush Administration insider to offer a dispassionate and documented account of the reaction to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 that led to the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime.

War and Decision, as the Wall Street Journal has noted, is the first "revisionist history" of the Iraq war. It challenges the conventional wisdom that holds the belief that in a rush to war a cadre of neoconservatives politicized intelligence findings.

Henry Kissinger says of the book, "The fullest and most thoughtful statement of the Pentagon thinking prior to and in the first stages of the Iraq war. Even those, as I, who take issue with some of its conclusions will gain a better perspective from reading this book."

To explore Feith's account, Hudson Institute held a discussion with three former officials who were active participants in the decisions of the day: Paul Wolfowitz, Visiting Scholar with AEI, former President of the World Bank, and former Deputy Secretary of Defense; Peter Rodman, Senior Fellow with the Brookings Institution and former Assistant Secretary for Defense and Adviser to the National Security Council; Dan Senor, former Senior Advisor to Presidential Envoy L. Paul Bremer III, Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority. This discussion was moderated by Hudson Institute CEO, Kenneth Weinstein - Hudson Institute

Douglas J. Feith served as the Under-Secretary of Defense for Policy for United States President George W. Bush from July 2001 until he resigned from his position effective August 8, 2005.

Feith's official responsibilities included the formulation of defense planning guidance and forces policy, United States Department of Defense (DoD) relations with foreign countries, and the DoD's role in U.S. Government inter-agency policymaking.

The debate over how to deal with Iran received a jolt late last year when the U.S. government's intelligence report concluded that Iran ended its nuclear weapons program four years ago. Dr. Thomas Fingar was Assistant Secretary of the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) from July 2004 until May 2005 when he was named Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Analysis & Chairman, National Intelligence Council. While at the State Department he served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research (2003-2004 and 2000-2001), Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (2001-2003), Deputy Assistant Secretary for Analysis (1994-2000), Director of the Office of Analysis for East Asia and the Pacific (1989-1994), and Chief of the China Division (1986-1989).

His intelligence career began in 1970 as the senior German linguist in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, USAREUR & 7th Army in Heidelberg, Germany. Between 1975 and 1986 he held a number of positions at Stanford University, including Senior Research Associate in the Center for International Security and Arms Control, and Director of the University's U.S.-China Relations Program. Other previous positions include assignment to the National Academy of Sciences as Co-Director of the U.S.-China Education Clearinghouse, adviser to the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, and consultant to numerous U.S. Government agencies and private sector organizations.

Dr. Fingar is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A. in Government and History, 1968), and Stanford University (M.A., 1969 and Ph.D., 1977 both in Political Science). He is a career member of the Senior Executive Service. His principal foreign languages are Chinese and German. Dr. Fingar has published dozens of books and articles, mostly on aspects of Chinese politics and policymaking.

Following the release of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran's nuclear program, Emanuele Ottolenghi, director of the Transatlantic Institute, addresses the American Jewish Committee concerning the misinterpretation of the NIE and how the European Union can pressure Iran to suspend their uranium enrichment without resorting to military action.

Dr. Emanuele Ottolenghi has recently taken up the post of Executive Director at the Transatlantic Institute in Brussels. He previously taught Israel Studies at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and at the Middle East Centre of St. Antony's College, Oxford University. He holds a degree in Political Science from University of Bologna, Italy, and a Ph.D. in political theory from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Since 1998 he is at Oxford.

His research focuses on Israeli domestic politics, specifically coalition and party politics, and elections, post-Zionism, the Arab-Israeli conflict (mainly the Oslo era), Europe's new anti-Semitism and European attitudes to the Middle East. He is currently finishing a book on Israel's electoral reforms in the 1990s.
