John McCain
Womens Town Hall
Denver, CO 10/02/08

TRANSCRIPT:
QUESTIONER: Thank you for being here. When are you going to take the gloves off and just go at him?

[Crowd goes crazy]

JOHN MCCAIN: How about Tuesday night? May I say that, may I say that I respect Senator Obama for what he has achieved. I respect and admire his success. I respect the fact that he was able to defeat a remarkable woman Senator from the state of New York. Hillary Clinton was a very foridable candidate, and one who I respect and admire. So I respect him, but what I will try to do, is as I did in this previous question, describe the stark differences and the different paths that we would take this nation on. I think thats respectful. But Senator Obama says that hes not going to raise taxes on 95 percent of the people, and yet he voted 94 times to do exactly that. He said that the surge wouldnt work in Iraq, and fails to acknowledge that he was wrong. He has taken at least, I dont know how many different positions on taxes. He wants a big government solution to healthcare. So I will try to draw out those stark differences between us, and be respectful, because Americans want a respectful campaign. And I want you to be proud of my campaign.

Kate Moses, co-founder of Salon.com's daily column Mothers Who Think, vents her frustration over the Hillary Clinton campaign.

------

In this novel Wintering, and in her work with Camille Peri on the national bestseller and American Book Award-winning anthology Mothers Who Think: Tales of Real-Life Parenthood, Kate Moses elevates the discussion of motherhood and shows that it gives women more to think about, not less.

Kate Moses, a San Francisco native, worked as an editor at Berkeley's acclaimed North Point Press and as literary director of Intersection for the Arts. In 1997 she teamed up with journalist Camille Peri to found Salon.com's popular daily website "Mothers Who Think" - Grace Cathedral

TRANSCRIPT:
MCCAIN: "There are many other differences between my views and Senator Obama's. I favor lower taxes, less government spending, and less federal bureaucracy. Senator Obama has clearly stated his preference for raising the tax burden on Americans, increasing government spending and giving the government more authority over the lives of American families and businesses. We have differences on health care. I prefer to give American families more control over their health care decisions. Senator Obama would prefer the government exercise greater control. Senator Obama would meet unconditionally with some of the world's worst dictators and state sponsors of terrorists. I would not add to the prestige of those who support violent extremists or seek to destroy our allies."
