<p><p><a href="%20www.codepink4peace.org">Medea Benjamin</a> on the <a href="http://www.airamerica.com/thomhartmannpage/">Thom Hartmann Show</a>: </p><blockquote><p><strong>Canadians are using FBI files at the border. Protests are now on the list of criminal activities, so if you get to border and you say you've been arrested, and if you've been convicted for peaceful protest (trespassing, disorderly conduct), you cannot get into Canada.</strong></p></blockquote><p>She speaks from personal experience. She was turned away, and concerned members of Congress are already on this, she says.</p><p><strong>Hartmann:</strong> She'll be refused credit, prohibited from traveling, as they did in the Soviet Union. Under <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html">Presidential Directive 51</a>, (which I posted about <a href="http://cliffschecter.blogspot.com/2007/06/this-bears-repeating-and-repeating-and.html">here</a>) she's harming the military industrial complex and BushCo can freeze her credit. </p><p><strong>Medea:</strong> "Don't blacklist peace activists." </p><p>Code Pink can be annoying, even embarrassing, but that shouldn't cloud the issue. This is scary stuff. </p></p>
