This book is a collection of the essays, poems, and stories of these veterans of war and veterans of peace. Vast in scope and in heart, it is the distilled wisdom of survivors of five wars. The contributors to this volume - combat veterans, medics, and others who served in war; gang members, drug users, and victims of domestic violence; draft resisters, deserters, and peace activists - are part of a large community of writers working together to heal the trauma of war through art.
