This video is part of a new project from Wal-Mart Watch - called “Wal-Mart Employees Speak Out” - that launched earlier today. The site, which features stories and video from current and former Wal-Mart employees, is dedicated to giving Wal-Mart’s workers a chance to talk about how the company’s low-wage, poor-benefits business model has impacted their lives. Check it out at: http://walmartspeakout.com

Wal-Mart employees often face retaliation for speaking out about the many problems at the company. The new website is a chance for them to discuss these issues – anonymously, in many cases – without fear of being fired or demoted.

Their stories come at a time when working Americans are suffering more than ever, but while Wal-Mart reaps record profits as the largest corporation in the world. News also broke today that Wal-Mart has just shut down a tire shop in Quebec where workers recently unionized. This news only reinforces the need for sites like Walmartspeakout.com, and is a prime example of how Wal-Mart's business practices hurt workers who try to stand up for their rights.

Social psychologist discusses what an individual's workspace can reveal about their personality.

-----

Does what's on your desk reveal what's on your mind? Do those pictures on your walls tell true tales about your character? Is your favorite outfit about to give you away?

For the last 10 years psychologist Gosling has been studying how people project (and protect) their inner selves. By exploring our private worlds (desks, bedrooms, even our clothes and cars), he shows not only how we showcase our personalities in unexpected ways, but also how we create personality in the first place, communicate it others and interpret the world around us - The Commonwealth Club of California

Sam Gosling, Ph.D., is an associate professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. His work has been widely covered in the media, including The New York Times, Psychology Today, NPR, and "Good Morning America," and his research is featured in Malcolm Gladwell's Blink. Gosling is the recipient of the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution. He lives in Austin, Texas.

Psychologist Rom Brafman argues that employers often ask the wrong kind of questions at job interviews, and blames an over-reliance on our ability to evaluate new people as the cause.

Juan Gonzalez on Puerto Rico's Overlooked Primary and a Bitter Divide Within the SEIU

Back from Puerto Rico, Juan Gonzalez reports on two stories coming out of the island over the past week: the Democratic primary, won by Sen. Hillary Clinton and overlooked by Sen. Barack Obama, and a bitter divide within the SEIU. Puerto Rican residents could vote in the primary contest, yet are not allowed to vote in the November elections for president. As the Democratic primary took place, the Service Employees International Union held its national convention in San Juan. The SEIU is embroiled in an internal battle over allegations its leadership is seeking to increase the union's size and influence at the expense of rank-and-file members.

Connecticut's retired public service workers made history in the 1980s by successfully advocating for retiree health care coverage for State employees. 20 years later, retirees are again standing together as agents of change, to force the universal health care tide to rise. This is their story.

The battle over the Employee Free Choice Act is coming to a head. This is one of those bills that gives rights to workers and not cigar-chomping, faux-macho, CEO-worshipping little suckups like Orrin Hatch (R-Imbecile). So naturally the Republicans are opposed.

Here is a refresher on what the bill will do to help workers, and Bob Geiger shows us how Republicans are again using their favorite weapon, fear, to try to defeat it.

Oh no, Orrin Hatch, the guy who writes the crappiest songs this side of John Ashcroft called it socialism, whatever will I do? Well, you've handled the economic and budgetary issues so well Orrin, that whatever you say simply must be true. So I believe you.
