<p>Blackwater unlikely to face charges in Iraq shooting
<br />The Associated PressPublished: May 9, 2008
<br />WASHINGTON: Blackwater Worldwide, the security contractor blamed by an angry Iraqi government for the shooting deaths of 17 civilians, is not expected to face criminal charges — all but ensuring the company will keep its multimillion-dollar contract to protect U.S. diplomats.</p>
<p>Instead, the seven-month-old Justice Department investigation is focused on as few as three or four Blackwater guards who could be indicted in the Sept. 16 shootings, according to interviews with a half-dozen people close to the investigation.</p>

His "employees" slaughter 17 innocent civilians, and he won't "allow" their government to arrest the criminals.</strong></p><p><strong>Then he whines that nobody loves him anymore, no one will defend his poor widdle company from the big bad thugs that might make murderers accountable for their crimes.</strong></p><p><strong>I bet he'll get away with it. Only Erik Prince and Bush know the answer.</p><p>From my award-winning, patented, sought-after, nearly letter-perfect quick notes from the CNN interview with Blackwater's very own CEO Erik Prince:</p><p>On the <a href="http://www.localtechwire.com/news/political/story/1917056/">September 16th incident</a>:</p><ul><li>It was "<strong>a normal run-of-the-day mission</strong>". Blackwater was protecting a diplomat. "<strong>Bad things in Iraq don't just happen by themselves.</strong>" <br /></li><li>I can't say too much because there's an <strong>"ongoing FBI investigation.</strong>" [Laffy note:I wonder if "I can't recall" is far behind]</li><li>Wolf brought up that there was no evidence of incoming small arms fire. CEO Erik: "<strong>The jury's still out</strong>." We're "<strong>proven military professionals, serve honorably, to through rigorous training, get security clearances", blahblahblah.</strong></li><li>Wolf: But there was no observed gun fire, no casings or shells were found. CEO Erik: ::cricket, cricket:: <strong>Deadly silence for a few seconds</strong>. Then, "Uh....I guarantee our guys weren't shooting at each other. ... We send <strong>professionals</strong>...The <strong>State Department directs us</strong>, they tell us what to do..."</li><li>Wolf: The Iraqis are saying that Blackwater has created and fostered a lawless culture and there is an Iraqi lawsuit... CEO Erik: They're politically motivated to get attention. <strong>The Blackwater guys get it right 99% of the time.</strong> </li><li>Wolf: But this time, someone screwed up. CEO Erik: Yes, it's possible. But they're <strong>professionals</strong>. They're <strong>well-prepared, they follow the military rules of engagement, they're directed by the State Department, they're well-trained</strong>...blahblahblah.</li><li>Wolf: Blackwater not being subjected to Iraqi law irks the Iraqis. Whose laws are you subject to? CEO Erik: "Uh.....Iraqi law. But there's no functioning Iraqi court system." So...? There's that whole "uniform military justice" thing...blahblah.</li><li>"We have <strong>professionals</strong> out there." [Laffy note: So you've said]</li><li>Wolf shows clip of Elijah Cummings at the hearings saying that Blackwater has "a culture of shoot first, sometimes kill, then ask questions"...We need to reassess whether they're undermining our efforts in Iraq. CEO Erik: "<strong>We're directed by the State Department.</strong>" [Laffy note: Get ready for the old "bad guys" reference...wait for it...] "Sometimes <strong>the bad guys </strong>choose to attack....An <strong>Iranian </strong>IED went off... hidden in watermelons. There is <em><strong>danger</strong></em> out there."</li><li>Wolf asks why we have all this outsourcing of military jobs to Blackwater. How/why did that all start? CEO Erik: I was a Navy SEAL, I built a training facility for SWAT teams. <strong>Then the USS Cole got bombed in October of 2000. That was before 9/11. That's what created the increase in Blackwater activity.</strong></li><li>"The U.S. military can't be all things to all people at all times." ... "We're <strong>gap-fillers ... </strong>with no pensions for years to come.</li><li>Blackwater demonstrates "how quickly and efficiently things can be done."</li><li>Blackwater won't take over, but they do it "cheaper, <strong>better</strong>, and faster..."</li><li><strong>Wolf hears that and asks if they're <em>better</em></strong> than the U.S. military. CEO Erik: "...<strong>but we're not better than the U.S. military."</strong></li></ul><p>Better go back and read the transcript of your previous statement, CEO Erik. </p><p>Oh, and thanks for dropping by.
