It's one of the biggest financial bail outs in the history of the United States and its impact is being felt around the world.

The US Federal Government has taken over the mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. The two acccount for nearly half of all the outstanding mortgages in the US.

Together they own or guarantee mortgages worth more than $5 trillion - almost the equivalent of Japan's GDP.

And the threat to them is very real because of the housing market collapse. One in ten Americans is behind on payments or faces repossession and both companies are losing billions.

Well the response was so strong (still going actually), that I'm thinking that we can really make this happen. Don't U. Nothing will happen unless U believe it...U can see it...! well...I can see it. Has I stated previously...there are some U2bers here who are "wide awake"... I'm hopin' somebody out there will eventually come forward with a 'place' to do this, maybe a 'couple of acres' or 'piece of land'...Someplace where we can make this thing happen. Even if it comes down to renting an auditorium or building or a house..whatever....considering weather and time of year...it doesn't matter... It doesn't matter where it is...cause the "the spirit of Peace & Freedom will be there. www.ralphbuckley.com Would you agree that facing your fears is the answer to overcoming them? Perhaps yes...but what is the 'sum of all fears? What is your worst fear? Do you know? There are many fears that we all collectively share...but ceasing to exist would have to pretty high up there on the list. Can u dig it man, I mean of all the horrible shit that can happen to you in this crazy world, (I know that I'm putting myself out on a limb here) but dying and/or 'death', "the Grim Reaper" would have to be number 1 "uno" on the list. Yep...but lets not forget about those other characters who like to dress in black, "the church. Over the centuries, they've attempted to try to 'raise the stakes', by intentionally trying to make you fear what happens to you after you've shuffled off your mortal coil. You see they are in the business of cashing in on you're sins...and of course the guilt of your sins. They have spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to convince you that there is yet a worse fate then death. That's right, you've guessed it. 'The eternal damnation of your immortal soul (wow that's heavy). The Vatican has been hiding the 'sacred knowledge' of our origins and the secrets of our past for thousands of years. Most of these ancient writings were supposedly destroyed with the burning of the legendary library in Alexandria...long long ago. (c'mon, these books weren't burned or destroyed...they are being studied by the most intelligent minds that can be found, so that the Vatican can have access and understand the knowledge of what many believe is our extra terrestrial or alien connection and ancestry.) Miraculously, over this past century, many of these ancient writings have been rediscovered. Information thought to be lost forever has magically reappeared. Of course these books have been hidden and censored from the mainstream. But eventually they have made their way through to us and have entered into our 'collective consciousness'. The 'powers that be' have fought with everything they could muster to prevent these books and the information contained therein from getting out. But, despite their efforts...this information will not be held back. It feels like there might be unseen forces at work here...call it what U will. But even the seemingly unstoppable plans of the 'elite' can be waylaid by forces of light that are beyond there power here on the physical plain. These books include the 'Lost Gospels' and the "Dead Sea Scrolls" & the Hindu 'Veda's'. The single most, important piece of information that these ancient texts tell us is this: That the "Kingdom of Heaven" exists 'within' each and every one of us. Not such a big deal when you think about it.... But if you think about this from the point of view of the papacy, then it becomes crystal clear. From the inception of the Church...they have ruled the masses with an 'iron fist'! They claim that they and they alone are the messengers & the spokesmen of the messiah until such a time comes when he shall return. This idea that the common man can have access to 'God' and the "Holy Spirit", The 'Holiest of Holies', without the aid of the overseeing eye of the church, is not something that works side by side with their ideas of "ultimate authority". Now with the new 'computer age' this knowledge is available to anyone and with minimal effort. This is truly an amazing time to be alive. Our ancestors have been victimized by the church for over 2000 years. Now with all of the new technological breakthroughs and discoveries, the church and the money & power under their control have become 'at risk'. There so called claim, to be the spokesman for God is now in question. In their eyes, there can be no doubt has to their 'place of authority'. In the past, anyone who did not concur with the beliefs set forth were dealt with accordingly. A thorough investigation into the history of the church and even of the bible itself has begun to unravel even more unanswered questions. ...You can bet that all of this has a definite effect upon the global-political unrest in the world has well. Specifically referring to the Middle East'. If one starts to question the validity of such inaccurate histories & events in the bible, then one has to start to question the logic of these wars in the name of religion. The status quo is changing. If you get your information from CNN and the corporate news then I can understand your coming to the conclusion that I am delusional. But the paradigm is changing...Despite it all.

Well I'm sure you've heard about the recent court decision involving Viacom and google/you tube and the handing over the personal viewing habits of it's entire database. In other words, they want to know who we are and what were watching....every last one of us. Now we're already well aware of these insidious little tracking cookies...there like those "will nots" when you have to wipe...they just cling on to you until you have to delete them manually.... Actually I now clean my cookies every time I surf u2b or myspace... But it doesn't really matter man...cause there always watching. They always have been. Court order or not. I mean....I use gmail...I like gmail....google has lots of cool stuff. So yeah I still use it. But, like I was saying. Whenever I read one of my emails on google I can't help but notice that the 'google advertising' column on the right side of the webpage is always advertising products based on the key words that are being mentioned within my personal email message.... If I get a message from one of my conspiracy friends...well then on the sidebar there will be 'google advertising' about anything of/or pertaining to...'conspiracy'. Or if I mention anything spiritual....the advertising reflects it...if I mention that I'm horny....well then google advertising will be doing it's very best to make sure that I get some.... So yeah man....there always watching. It's just good to always assume that you're being watched. Because U are. .....anyways...Recently, Youtube and one of it's shareholders "fox" has let me know that they've found my video Ease to be in copyright violation. So....without so much has a rebuttal from me. They've removed it. Now...that's cool. Cause I will do another video. My songs are my songs. Regardless of the images in the videos. But...the bigger picture is...Things are changing. YouTube isn't 'all that' anymore. It's like 'coffee espresso' in Seattle...there used to be good coffee everywhere...that is until Starbucks came along....(Corporatism...that's America baby) For being the 'grand daddy' of video social websites...they have the absolute worst sound quality...hands down. "live video"..."myspace video"..."daily motion" "bliptv" just to name a few have really good stereo sound. Not so u2b... I really think that things are beginning to change around the internet. For the worse. I can feel it and I can sense it. The bigger corporations within the internet will merge sooner or later so they can monopolize. I really hope not. There will always be a way to get information out to the people. But at what cost...? I can foresee a time when we will be forced to circulate our movies/music...DVD's or CD;s on the street again. Word of mouth. And it will seem like we have gone backwards into a time machine....back to the last century. Now of course this won't pertain to anyone who likes to stay within the confines of the 'status quo'... But if you're somebody that is willing to stand up...alone if need be...4 what you believe, and for your rights. To stand up against an unjust war & the senseless murder of millions. 'I just want Junior to be able to come home'

Family and friends gathered at the home of Tim Coco and Genesio "Junior" Oliveira Jr. on Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil marking the one-year anniversary of the couple's involuntary separation.

Candles, one for each day they have been apart, glowed outside their home.

"Junior came here in 2002 on a tourist visa and, as they say, the rest is history," Coco told the gathering.

The couple met in Boston six years ago when Oliveira was visiting from Brazil. A long-distance romance began, and Oliveira returned to the United States. They were married in 2005, after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that denying same-sex couples the right to marry violated the state constitution.

But their marriage is not recognized by the federal government for immigration purposes, Coco said, leading the couple on a yearslong journey to get permission for Oliveira to immigrate here legally.

Coco said the couple have always believed in following and honoring the law. They started the process with immigration to keep Junior in the country in October 2002. After meeting with lawyers, the couple decided to seek political asylum for Oliveira.

"The State Department lists Brazil as one of the worst human rights offenders in the way they treat homosexuals. The government is very progressive, but the people of Brazil are not," Coco said.

Immigration officials denied the request for asylum. After the ruling was issued in 2006, the couple immediately appealed, Coco said.

In the meantime, in 2005, they married and made their home in Haverhill.

But they were forcibly separated in August 2007 when the Board of Immigration ruled against their appeal.

"They said he had to leave, calling it voluntary departure but if he didn't leave, they would have put him in jail," Coco said.

The couple have petitioned Department of Homeland Security. In March, the couple filed an "I-130 Petition for an Alien Relative," the same mechanism heterosexual couples use to gain recognition for immigrant spouses.

However, the couple expects that request to be denied based on the Defense of Marriage Act, a 12-year-old law that prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages.

The couple will wait for formal denial before challenging the portion of DOMA that prevents federal recognition of their marriage, bringing the case before the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

"We are legally married so we have standing. There have been cases before us where the couple was not married so neither had standing. However, we are, so we can claim we were deprived of a federal benefit," Coco said.

If the court rules against the couple, they plan to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

However, the couple are still looking for an administrative solution.

"Bottom line, there are so many illegals here and we did the right thing. It's a matter of compassion," Coco said.

U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey has the authority to overturn the Immigration Board of Appeals decision, Coco said. The couple hopes that will happen.

"My goal was not to be an activist and a hero for everyone else, even though they'd all like me to be. I just want Junior to be able to come home. This is a government-sponsored hate crime," Coco said.

A key figure in the libertarian movement, Boaz surveys what he sees as the threats to freedom from the Bush administration and the current presidential candidates.

Why DOMA Must Fall

In 2002, same sex marriage was not yet legal in Massachusetts and any possible legal remedy related to marriage was not available. Genesio Oliveira "Junior" and Tim married March 3, 2005 as his case moved through the system. Despite the marriage, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), signed into law by President Bill Clinton, prohibited Tim from sponsoring Junior as a permanent resident even though heterosexuals may do so.

The couple has begged for relief and has since exhausted all other potential remedies available to compel the U.S. government to enable Junior to return. Although the U.S. does not recognize the marriage under DOMA, it uses the marriage as a reason not to grant any other visa since the marriage is a reason why Junior might not leave the U.S.

With no resolution in sight, the couple has moved ahead with a head-on DOMA challenge. The aim is to topple that portion of DOMA that prevents Federal recognition of marriage and civil unions in those states where same-sex unions are legal. Before Federal courts may hear the matter, the couple's "I-130 Petition for Alien Relative" must be formally denied. The I-130 Petition is the same method used by heterosexuals to sponsor their spouses.

Alone in the Fight for Basic Fairness?

Here is the long delayed update to the story of my separation from Junior as a result of actions taken by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

First, some background. Junior was never an "illegal alien." Six years ago this year, Junior filed a petition for asylum with what was then the U.S. Immigration and Nationalization Service (INS). He made this filing before the end of the six-month stay authorized by his visa, thus keeping him "in status" in the eyes of immigration law. There are many reasons why the asylum application should have been granted.

As the law allows, Junior received his Social Security number and work authorization while his case made its way through the system. As the Department of Homeland Security was formed and Bush made ideological appointments, the government grew increasingly unfriendly to our cause. Even the U.S. State Department changed its longstanding position on a key issue bolstering the asylum petition.

Finally, during the Justice Department hiring scandal, a conservative ideologue was appointed to hear Junior's case. As the Washington Post reported June 11, last year:

The Bush administration increasingly emphasized partisan political ties over expertise in recent years in selecting the judges who decide the fate of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, despite laws that preclude such considerations...

...another failed tax court nominee, Francis L. Cramer, a former campaign treasurer for Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), was appointed as an immigration judge. Cramer's bid for a seat on the tax court foundered after the American Bar Association's taxation section wrote a rare letter to the Senate Finance Committee, saying: "We are unable to conclude that he is qualified to serve."

Cramer was then hired by the Justice Department's tax division and was briefly lent to the department's Office of Immigration Litigation. Ashcroft approved him as an immigration judge in March 2004. The Government Accountability Office, a legislative watchdog, criticized the appointment, saying, "Converting a Schedule C [political] appointee with less than 6 months of immigration law experience to an immigration judge position raises questions about the fairness of the conversion."

Judge Cramer denied the asylum application and his decision was upheld by a single judge of the Board of Immigration Appeals. Junior was ordered to "voluntarily" depart the U.S. within 60 days and he complied with that order last August.

Since last year, we have exhausted all other potential remedies available to us to compel the U.S. government to enable Junior to return.

I also sadly report that the allies we expected -- GLAD, ACLU, HRC and others -- have not stepped up to the plate.

Coco and Oliveira accuse the United States of violating the "Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment" by failing to grant asylum to Oliveira despite "substantial grounds" to do so and failing to appoint "competent" arbiter to hear the asylum case -- both are required under the convention, ratified by the US in 1994. In the 65-page complaint filed this week with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at United Nations office at Geneva, Switzerland, the couple argues their case is admissible because the US further "recognized the competence of the committee established under the relevant treaty to consider complaints from individuals."
