Stevens voted against the bill, dashing the hopes of over a million undocumented youth in America. <p>Call it karma or just coincidence, but the 84-year old Ted Stevens--the longest serving Republican in the Senate--was found guilty of seven felony counts earlier in the Week. </p><p>Senator Stevens <a href="http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/asection/la-na-stevens30-2008oct30,0,4616462.story">refuses to back down</a> despite calls from both Barack Obama and John McCain. He still considers himself <a href="http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gZXmpL3-GlWbhbGKemFmCm_bPPmQD9456S2O0">above the law</a>, gets to keep his pension and <a href="http://www.slate.com/id/2203348/">vote for himself</a>, and will become the first convicted felon to serve in the Senate if re-elected. <strong>After all, a convicted felon can serve in the Senate.</strong> <strong>But if you are brought to this country illegally at the age of 2, you can&#39;t even go to college in some cases despite the fact that you have committed no crime and have outstanding academic records</strong>.
