FRED THOMPSON: Lastly, towards what youre talking about, people oughta have the option to pay a much simpler, much flatter tax. I have proposed a 10 percent rate and a 25 percent rate. The cut off is 100 thousand for a couple. Above 100 thousand you pay 25 percent, plain and simple. You could fill it out on that right there and send it in. As an option, if you want to do the old form, and do the old way, you have that option too. But weve worked it out so that its a revenue mutual deal, its not going to have to be, so called, paid for by raising taxes anywhere else. And I think so many people would take that option, because politicians in Washington would say, wait a minute, this is the way to go.
