I will find out later if the match in Indiana will determine who wins that state.

If you are watching FOX News and notice the "errors" on the ticker than you are not the only one....

There was an apparent error on the ticker saying that Obama having 870 to Hillary 1323...

I have joined Brave New Films' FOX Attacks blog! This is the creation of activist and director Robert Greenwald, the movie producer of "OutFoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism." I urge all the Barack Obama and Ron Paul supporters to join this website to denounce the corporate owned media and take the battle onto the Fox News Network.

FOX News Channel is considered by many in the journalist circles as a conservative leaning network. Since October 1996, this network stomped out the competition with their ratings! And through their ratings, the controversy mainly realigns on the commentators constant distortions and fallacies (meaning falsehoods).

Brave New Films and MoveOn.Org have successfully encouraged the Democratic candidates to boycott the Fox-Sponsored Debates after critics pointed out their smear campaigns against Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, two extremely popular Democratic presidential candidates. Now that the candidates have gone on FOX News Sunday and The O'Reilly Factor to reach out to the conservative-leaning and independent viewers, it may seem deniable that the network is "softening" their approach to the candidates.

DJK on MSNBC's Verdict with Dan Abrams!

Yes, you read that right — that's really me, DJK (aka Jonathan Kim) on MSNBC's Verdict with Dan Abrams! It's my first television appearance, and I have to tell you that it was a very strange experience. But more on that later.

The topic of discussion was whether it was a good idea for Barack Obama to give in to Chris Wallace and his Obama clock and appear on FOX News Sunday on April 27. As you can see, I think I was probably the most adamant about the fact that Obama really has little to gain from "addressing the FOX audience" since FOX will dissect every possible aspect of the interview to extract every possible microgram of negativity conceivable. And FOX is perfectly willing to lie to do it. And Abrams pointed out, Obama is legitimizing FOX as a news source, which is exactly what allowed FOX to gain the influence it has — by maintaining the appearance of a news network when they are really a republican propaganda machine.

The best way for Obama to turn his bad decision into a positive is if he goes after FOX and shows democrats and the world that he is, in fact, "in touch" with what democrats and most of the world knows — that FOX is a republican propaganda machine. He'll earn more respect of his base and show that he understands the role that FOX plays in legitimizing republican talking points. He'll show that he knows how the system works.

And if there's any fear that he might lose votes by alienating FOX voters, remember this — in the 2004 election, 88% of FOX viewers voted for George W. Bush while only 7% voted for John Kerry. Even white evangelicals, gun owners, Iraq war supporters, and conservatives didn't produce margins like that.

This morning, it was my great pleasure to be on KPFK (90.7 FM in Los Angeles) as a guest on Sonali Kohatkar’s radio show, Uprising, to talk about FOX ATTACKS! Obama part 2: Spreading the Virus and FOX's effect on the traditional media. This was my first radio interview ever, and you can probably tell that I was pretty nervous. There were a few points I wish I had made or made better, but for my first radio interview, I suppose it went okay, and Sonali definitely made me feel at home. But it sure can be tough when you’re trying to be clear, concise, and impactful without saying “um” when you have all that adrenaline going and your mind is racing!

As I was waiting for Sonali’s producer to call me in, it was funny to think that at the same time last year, I was sitting in a barn in a small town in northern Santa Barbara County milking goats, and now I was about to do a live interview on one of the country’s most important independent progressive radio networks. If those goats could see me now…

FOX ATTACKS! Obama part 2: Spreading the Virus has zoomed past 400,000 views and 25,000 petition signatures in less than a week! (I realize that the counter is only at 399,155 as I write this, but with YouTube's slower updating, I'm willing to call it). Thanks so much to all of you who watched the video and helped distribute the FOX anti-virus far and wide. We’ve seen what happens when FOX’s sickness is allowed to spread unchecked — the 2000 election, the Iraq war, the 2004 election, a near war with Iran, etc. — so it is vitally important that you and your loved ones be vaccinated as soon as possible. The FOX virus is especially active during election years and has been known to cause faulty judgment, hallucinations, and severe ass-backwardism.

And in an amazing and unprecedented turn, it seems that even FOX’s Chris Wallace has been inoculated.

Chris Wallace, host of FOX News Sunday, was a guest on FOX & Friends this morning. But instead of previewing his Sunday show, Wallace shocked hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, and Gretchen Carlson by laying into them over their ridiculous coverage of a statement Barack Obama recently made during an interview where he referred to his grandmother as “a typical white woman” in regards to some of her ingrained racial prejudices.

Hey listen, I love you guys but I want to take you to task if I may, respectfully, for a moment. I have been watching the show since 6:00 this morning when I got up, and it seems to me that two hours of Obama bashing on this typical white person remark is somewhat excessive and frankly I think you’re somewhat distorting what Obama had to say.

Stopping the FOX Virus

I had a very disturbing talk with my dad about Barack Obama.

I was on the phone with my parents telling them about the video I was working on, FOX ATTACKS! Obama part 2: Spreading the Virus, and brought up how FOX (Sean Hannity, in particular) has been desperately trying to create a connection between Louis Farrakhan and Barack Obama because a magazine founded by Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and run by Wright’s daughters recently gave Louis Farrakhan an award. I told my parents how Hannity went from saying the magazine gave Farrakhan the award to claiming Wright gave him the award (which he didn’t) to saying that Obama “associated” with Farrakhan (which he hasn’t). Hannity would mostly use these “stories” so he could rattle off some of Farrakhan’s most offensive comments and mention Obama in the same breath, effectively linking the two in the minds of FOX viewers. He just wants to say, “Obama — Farrakhan — racist — anti-Semite” over and over again until they are linked, just as FOX did with “Iraq — Al Qaeda — 9/11 — terrorism” in the run-up to the Iraq war.

Of course, Hannity almost never mentions that Obama has repeatedly denounced Farrakhan’s racist, anti-semitic, and inflammatory remarks, has called for more cooperation between the black and Jewish communities, has spoken before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and has been defended by the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and other prominent Jewish organizations. But Hannity doesn’t want his viewers to know this. He just wants them to have a vague impression that Obama is an anti-semite and a black separatist.

When I mentioned this example to my parents, my dad said, “Wait, didn’t Louis Farrakhan give Obama an award and Obama accepted it?” When I told him that this was completely off, he said, “Oh, I guess I must have heard it wrong.”

First, let me tell you a bit about my dad. He’s a very smart man, and when it comes to chemistry, he’s a certified genius. He’s not a current events junkie like I am, but he’s reasonably well informed. I got him a subscription to the Economist several years ago and I know he’s kept it up and still reads it, and he watches the nightly news. He is definitely not a conservative or a FOX viewer.

So how could he have been so wrong? That’s one of the problems we’re trying to address in FA Obama 2.

What is infuriating and requires IMMEDIATE ACTION is that so many in the media have been catching the FOX virus and spreading it. By way of a cure, we bring you the next installment in our highly successful FOX Attacks! series. Together, we have battled them effectively, halted their fake debates, and put pressure on Bill O'Reilly for on his attacks on homeless vets. And so far, over 6 million people have seen our FOX Attacks!

We had the great fortune of having Dan Lohaus — director of the powerful documentary When I Came Home, which chronicles the struggles of a homeless Iraq veteran — filming the event today along with field producer Robin. Dan quickly cut together a short video of what happened. Enjoy.

FOX ATTACKS! "Non-Existent" Veterans

To Bill O'Reilly: Homeless veterans exist. I met some.

In a previous post, I wrote about Bill O’Reilly’s bizarre assertion that there are no homeless veterans in America. He made this claim on January 4, 2008 while talking about a speech by John Edwards where Edwards said that 200,000 vets are homeless on any given night in America. BOR continued to deny the existence of homeless veterans on January 16, 2008 during an interview with radio host Ed Schultz. This time, he added a caveat that if there are homeless veterans, “there aren’t many of them out there”. You can see both clips for yourself and read transcripts here, since I’m sure you’ll soon be hearing BOR complain, as he always does when he’s criticized for something he said, that he has been “taken out of context.” The context of these unedited clips is quite clear.

On both occasions, BOR was either ignorant to or consciously ignoring a recent study from the National Alliance to End Homelessness (using data from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Census Bureau) that found:

In 2006, approximately 195,827 veterans were homeless on a given night — an increase of 0.8 percent from 194,254 in 2005. More veterans experience homelessness over the course of the year. We estimate that 336,627 were homeless in 2006.

Either that or BOR believes that 195,827 homeless veterans (and that number is surely low) is a small enough number of homeless veterans as to be insignificant. I have no idea what number of homeless veterans BOR considers to be “many” — 195,827 homeless veterans certainly seems like a lot to me.

BOR said that he couldn’t find any homeless veterans. Maybe he wasn’t looking in the right places. It took me less than a day to find several hundred.

Bill O'Reilly attacks Obama staffer

Iran forum opens with Greenwald film, "FOX Attacks: Iran"

On Saturday, Dec. 8th, Chicago Progressive Alliance and other organizations sponsored the educational forum, "Averting Another Catastrophe: The Folly of an Attack on Iran", at Loyola University in Chicago. There was an over-flow crowd of over 250 people. Many watched the forum from outside the auditorium through open doors and some sat on the steps.

The forum began with a presentation of Robert Greenwald's short film, "FOX Attacks: Iran", which portrayed the role the media and our political leaders are taking in selling a war on Iran using the same strategy of fear mongering and lies that were used to sell a war on Iraq.

FOX News Porn is too hot for Digg

This morning we launched our new web site, FoxNewsPorn.com. This parody website consists solely of images and videos broadcast on FOX News in the hopes people will ask advertisers to stop showing their ads on FOX.

Once the site launched, I submitted it to various social bookmarking sites, including Digg. The submission quickly appeared on the Digg's homepage, only to be deleted and our account banned. I emailed Digg, thinking the submission was mistaken for a real porn site, only to be told the site is "adult content," and is against their Terms of Service, "even though it was broadcast on FOX." See the details with images here.

So Digg bans what FOX News broadcasts. It's hard to believe that's all there is to it, considering there are often sites with content that could be considered "adult" on Digg. As I write this, the submission "The Top 20 'Side Boobs' of All-Time [Kinda NSFW]", a completely gratuitous web site with adult content, is #4 on digg.

Hmm, this couldn't have anything to do with Digg partnering with the WSJ, and looking to be aquired by Rupert Murdoch, could it?

Looks like we got to FOX this time, and it wasn't a debate about policy in Iran that did it, or a video displaying their racism, or even our coverage of their abject hypocrisy on environmental issues.

No, what got the attack dogs at FOX hungry and looking for flesh was none other than an expose of their smut peddling! It makes sense in a way, because advertisers tend not to like their products being promoted between segments of soft porn. And a large part of their conservative base hates this as well, which might be why one Christian organization compared the way women were dressed on FOX to the manner in which "hookers" are attired.

So what did we do?

FOX Attacks Decency... with Bill O'Reilly Leading the Way

Most of you are aware, and most likely have been for a while, that under the guise of "news" Fox has offered its viewers a steady stream of bias pertaining to social and political issues since its inception in 1996. From attacking Black America to pushing for war with Iran, from demonizing bloggers to distorting environmental issues, theirs is quite a record of achievement in propagating propaganda that is neither fair nor balanced.

Today we have a surprise (well at least it surprised all of us at BNF). Thanks to the terrific work of the News Hounds, we bring you Fox and ole' Billy O'Reilly attacking decency. Yes, you read that right. The self-righteous, pompous, bloviators who deign to lecture on how we should behave in our personal lives, are in fact exploiting women, pandering to the lowest common denominator and pushing smut out on the airwaves on a daily basis!

And this will definitely raise your hackles. YOU ARE PAYING FOR THIS! Yes, you read that right too. So watch the video and pass it along to as many on your email list as possible. We simply must let the FCC know we are mad as hell about having their smut in our homes and being forced to pay for it. And we’re simply not going to take it anymore.

The laughter could have rocked a city block when we at BNF heard that FOX was launching a business channel called FBN, an anagram of BNF!

Since we are among the precious few who have watched FOX business shows, from Neil Cavuto to the "Cost of Freedom," we know what a joke the so-called business coverage is. Melanie at the News Hounds has documented the coverage for years. Paris Hilton, strippers, sex diaries -- all critical business functions.

Last week, they put a teaser video on their website. It was time to get to business and mock it with our own improved version.

Fox News Pulls the Race card!

GAHHHHH! Only in America can you take a case that clearly violates civil rights, is clearly racially biased, is clearly and utterly about race and claim that it is REVERSE RACISM! Only Fox News can get away with such a ridiculous remark.

Let me just address the self loathing Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, because his complete and utter attempts to drum disregard racism entirely are laughable.

#1. The Activists protesting in Jena, LA are themselves racists – This he knows because why? They are calling for more reasonable charges for 6 young men, some of whom were not even involved in an altercation with another student? Since when is fighting for civil liberties racist? Is Martin Luther King a racist?

#2 – DA Reed Walters may have been talking to all off the students when he said he could end their lives with the stroke of a pen: Yes Rev. Lee, he may have been, and the world also maybe flat. The DA showed up at the school AFTER the black students held a protest, an peaceful protest under the “white” tree. There’s nothing more terrifying to a town of 3000 – predominately white citizens when the young intelligent black people stand up for themselves, better nip that in the bud.

#3 – Six black students were attacking one white student that had nothing to do with the nooses – It has been repeatedly stated that these six men were rounded up and accused because of their proximity to the fight. I surely hope that Rev. Lee doesn’t happen to be around the next time the police are racial profiling for a homicide. Who knows, you might get tossed in the paddy wagon with the rest of the degenerates.

Fox, how dare you even allow this question to be asked? But then again, would we expect anything less from a network that repeatedly seeks to sensationalize and point out injustices to the white and privileged?

FOX Attacks Goddamn Sally Field

FOX censored Sally Field's anti-war comments during her acceptance speech at the Emmys.

Some people want to claim it's because she said "god damn", but clearly FOX has no qualms airing "god damn" cause on a recent FOX News program they aired it 5 times in the span of a couple of minutes.

Oh, and the FCC ruled that "goddamn" is perfectly acceptable on broadcast television.

FOX just didn't want you to hear what Sally said, and the majority of Americans already know, that "if mothers ruled the world there'd be no goddamn wars in the first place."

FOX's "balanced" analysis of the Petraeus hearings

To laugh at the ridiculousness, to scream at the outrageous or to... Well fox went to new lows in their analysis of Petraeus' testimony last week. When our friends at Media Matters let us know that they had 7 to 1 analysts in favor of escalation, it was hard to believe, even for FOX! 22 minutes supporting the escalation and only 3 and half against it. They went to such great lengths, they even cut away to Ann Coulter when Democrats questioned Petraeus!

Bill had an idea to show all this in 90 seconds, so he and Jonathan jumped right into it. Then we argued amongst ourselves for two days about what we should do about it? What could we ask, encourage, motivate folks to do. Yelling at the TV screen not being a desired option.

So we throw the question to you, our activists and media observers. What should be done about FOX? And given this ridiculous imbalance, should we encourage liberals and Democrats to stop going on FOX until the rules are fair, the deck is not stacked?

Another Victory! FOX/CBC Democratic Detroit Debate Postponed

I hope by “postponed” they actually mean “cancelled due to the realization that the whole idea was crazier than a shithouse rat.” Seriously, why would a black democratic group want to co-host a debate with a network that openly hates both minorities and democrats?

In what I assume is a face-saving justification, US Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss) said this:

“The overwhelming number of party presidential debates has created a scheduling challenge. Revising the CBC Institute’s debate schedule will allow the time necessary to complete all debate logistics in an effective manner,” Thompson said in the release.

In any case, all us Fox Attackers out there should feel very proud of this new development, especially since it is just code for canceling a debate that no real democratic contenders were going to attend thanks to our education/pressure campaign.

FOX ATTACKS! Iran on FoxNews.com! (with a bonus response to Bob Steele)

WTF?! For some reason, FOX picked up the AP article about FOX ATTACKS! Iran and has it on their website. Believe me, I’m not complaining — whatever gets the word out is fine with me. It’s just a bit perplexing, especially since the article mentions that “Three telephone messages to Fox in New York seeking comment were not returned.” Maybe FOX is proud of the fact that they are the Iran war-mongeringest channel out there but don’t want to admit it. Hard to tell.

The article (by John Curran) includes a criticism of FA Iran from Bob Steele, the Nelson Poynter Scholar for Journalism Values at the Poynter Institute school for journalists in St. Petersburg, Florida. The article reads:

One media observer said the video lacked balance and journalistic credibility.
"They are accusing others of doing what they have done, which is to stitch together multiple snippets of video and very short sound bites to make an ideological argument," said Bob Steele,

"Take this as one small piece of a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle in the larger scheme of things," he said.

I would like to address Steele’s critique.

To start, his initial assertion is totally wrong. Brave New Films isn’t accusing FOX of “stitch[ing] together multiple snippets of video and very short sound bites to make an ideological argument.” We’re not upset at FOX for their editing. I don’t know where Steele got that idea. We’re accusing FOX of using unsubstantiated claims, disproportionately hawkish and biased guests, and disproportionately Republican/neocon-biased “opinions” to convince their viewers that Iran is an imminent threat to the US, has links to Al-Qaeda and "terrorism", and needs to be attacked immediately — exactly as FOX did with Iraq. I think we proved that point quite well.
