The Nation of Dick tells us all to Cheney ourselves and Tucker Carlson thinks that's a good thing.

"The question," Scarborough continued incredulously, "was what do you do when two-thirds of American think this war is not worth fighting. Dick Cheney's response: 'So?' There's a guy that sticks his finger in the wind!"

And Scarborough's not exactly talking about Cheney's pinky here.

Tucker Carlson leaped in to defend Cheney. "He's kind of a hero in that way," Carlson suggested. "I know I'll probably have my car egged for saying this, but ... it's so nice to see someone that old-school. 'Hey, you kids, get off my lawn.' That's Dick Cheney. I love that."

I'll spring for the eggs. Any takers?

TV news networks warn hosts about attacking candidates

I finally got to watch Real Time last night, and this stood out like a sore thumb:

Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough guested on Real Time with Bill Maher Friday night, and touched on many issues, from the War in Iraq to the state of the Democratic presidential race. But at the beginning of the clip below, Scarborough gives a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes warnings about attacking one candidate more than another. "This is an interesting window into your life at MSNBC," says Maher.

Also, around the 2:30 mark, check out the nickname Maher gives Scarborough.

It's not surprising that the networks do this, but it was surprising that Scarborough was up front about it. I, for one, appreciate his honesty.

That said, what ever happened to real news with in-depth reporting by seasoned, knowledgeable anchors about relevant topics?

You can stop laughing now.

Now is not the time for progressives to be silent. With Clinton and Obama battling each other we MUST start telling the story of McCain and his support for war.

We have been barraged with folks asking us to take action. And we have.

In less than week, Jason, Leda, Philip and Lissette put together these two fantastic short videos. And we have a major BNF strategic campaign to reach hearts and minds.

Scarborough is refuting the rumor that the Republican establishment will go with McCain. For whatever reason, he's laughing a lot tonight.

Does Pat Buchanan ever sleep?

Do they have to cover Rev Huckee's speech?

Keith is warning us of an impending Rudy speech.

McCain is still leading by 38,000 + votes, or about 3%.

Hillary is at 51% to Obama's 30% with 43% in, for no delegates. "A victory that kinda isn't", says Keith.

I just came across this second video on scumbag John Gibson's tragically un-funny comedy about Heath Ledger's death.

When credit is due, it should be given. Joe Scarborough, who is a self-described conservative, uses much the same language I did about Gibson. He calls him "sick," (as do Willie Geist and Mika Brzezinski) among other things--and completely sums up my feelings about this "man."

Good for Scarborough. This is as good as I've ever seen him.

Chris Matthews' condescending tirade on "The View", Barbara Walters and Hillary Clinton

Tweety's blasting everyone. It's not only a "ti", it's a "rade". Put 'em together and what have you got? A condescending tirade!

Was he implying that Hillary was undeserving? He'd never deride her! Does he want to take Baba Wawa on? Oh yeah. And everyone else on "The View"? You betcha! Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's SuperTweety! He knows more than anybody!

Responding to criticism of his perceived misogyny from the hosts of The View, MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews delivered a lengthy, condescending tirade reiterating his suggestion that Hillary Clinton's political career is precipitated on her husband's infidelity, belittling those who would suggest otherwise and claiming to know more about history than the View women.

Ouchies.

Matthews reversed himself after her stunning victory, promising Tuesday night to "never underestimate" the former First Lady again. The next morning, Matthews displayed what many saw as a dramatic example of just how far he could put his foot into his mouth.

And what a spitty, drooly mouth it is! Baba:

"I'm very careful here as you know ... not to give my personal opinions," Barbara Walters said. "I had thought that people in news didn't do that. Forget it. The way to get ratings: Come out and slam."

And how did Tweety respond?

Matthews took offense at Walters' insinuation and took to Morning Joe Friday morning to defend himself.

As for Joe Scarborough, he somehow confused Baba with Whoopi:

For the record, Walters told Hill, "We'd all like to do your husband [Tim McGraw]," but she said it was co-host Whoopie Goldberg who "would like to do" Pelosi's husband.

What Women Know

I've just spent the past half hour listening to the male commentators on MSNBC blame the upset last night on lying, bigoted voters. Watching Chris Matthews and Joe Scarborough twist and weave, grasping at any excuse (except maybe their own prejudice) to explain how the polls got it so wrong (while effectively keeping Mika B out of the conversation). They seem to think that a constant stream of abuse for Hillary getting verklempt (not a tear broke free) is just par for the course. My conclusion? It's easier for those blow hards to blame anything except their own snide, petty, high school machinations.

How many women are there in New Hampshire and across the United States that have had to sprint for the restroom when they felt tears come on during a heated discussion at work? Or when a dismissive comment by a superior just stings a little too much? How many have not made it out of sight in time and had to deal with the sexist chiding, the look when you pass by of "Oh jeez, she cried.". I have worked in offices my entire life, usually exclusively supervising men. Even the most well educated, seemingly "enlightened" guy is not above feeling uncomfortable if a woman cries and overcompensating to protect his own machismo. Don't get me started on the guys at the junk yard where I worked for 12 years.

Not a huge Hillary fan here, not even a "defender of the gender" on a regular basis. But I know I'm not the only one who thinks there are more ticked off female voters who have been there in New Hampshire than "lying bigoted" voters, Bradley effect or no.
