A retrospective of the Tours of Poor Dayton.

Thanks for viewing and post your comments at the bottom.

Ok, here's the reasons once again! First things first, we look at the community as a whole. My community is facing a turmoil! Manufacturing is quickly leaving the area. Population is declining and a national magazine has ranked Dayton, Ohio as well as four other cities in this state as the "fastest dying cities" in the nation.

Forbes magazine has written an article stating that economic recession has hit major cities in the "Rust Belt". Many people are fleeing the communities and leaving the city standing on its last leg.

http://www.forbes.com/business/2008/08/04/economy-ohio-michigan-biz_cx_jz_0805dying.html

The reasons why I do these "A Tour Of Poor Dayton" videos for both profiles is to give the people a retrospective of why a community like Dayton, Ohio can be affected by an economic recession, the loss of jobs, population, home foreclosure, urban sprawl and crime. This can affect not only the state of Ohio, but the United States in general.

Ohio is a swing state, and no presidential candidate can carry the general election without securing the state of Ohio.

These are the people who represent Dayton, Ohio. The mayor, your congressmen, your senators, and your governor.

The mayor of this city is Rhine McLin, a former state senator and funeral home director. She is a Democrat and super delegate to the Denver Democratic National Convention.

The congressmen who represent this area:
Mike Turner is a Republican United States congressman from the 3rd District and represents Dayton, Centerville, Wilmington, Springboro Wright Patterson AFB, and Kettering. He was the former mayor of Dayton and a lawyer.

John Boehner is the Minority Leader. The Republican leader is from the 8th District and representative from West Chester. His area includes Dayton, Huber Heights, Riverside, Hamilton, Middletown, Eaton, Greenville, Troy, Wright Patterson AFB, and Tipp City. He was a former businessman.

Sherrod Brown is the Democratic United States Class II Senator. He was a former United States congressman from the 13th District. He was a former professor.

George Voinovich is the Republican United States Class I Senator. He was the 65th governor of Ohio and former mayor of the city of Cleveland. He was an auditor, businessman and lawyer.

Ted Strickland is the current governor of Ohio. He is a Democrat. Strickland was the former United States congressman from the 6th District. He was a psychologist, college professor and pastor.

Ask them about the situation in Ohio!

Well that one kinda answers itself, doesn't it.

Well, with Republicans being arrested every week for tap dancing like they're Fred Astaire in a bathroom stall near you and outright bribery, and their policies on everything from Iraq to the economy in shambles, this is just what they need:

House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) is trying to force out the top two staffers of the National Republican Campaign Committee - leading to a threat of resignation from the NRCC by Chairman Tom Cole (R-Okla.) if it happens, said GOP insiders.

In a recent meeting in the minority leader's office, Boehner told Cole that he was displeased at how the NRCC is being run. Republican sources say Boehner wants to replace Pete Kirkham, the NRCC's executive director, and Terry Carmack, its political director, with more "aggressive" people with a more "realistic" view on next year's elections, sources said.

Boehner has not yet directly asked Cole to replace the two men, although his intention to do so is well known in House leadership circles. Cole has refused to consider the move and has privately declared, "I will resign before I fire those two," said sources familiar with the dispute.

The only two words I can think of to describe my reaction are "ha" and "ha."

Republicans right now are debating a silly resolution to attack Moveon.org. It is their usual attempt to hold shiny objects up to the adoring eyes of their base and the Beltway media, which sadly works way too often.

Leading the charge is Sen. John Box Turtle Cornyn, who won't condemn House Minority Leader Crying John Boehner's claim that we're paying a "small price" in Iraq.

Cornyn, like Boehner, dodged military service when he had the chance, which is a real shocker since finding a GOP elected representative or pundit who actually fought in a war is much like finding underwear on Britney Spears.

Not a normal event, to be kind.

Moveon reminds us of Boehner's remark, but the ad can't get into the attacks on John Kerry, the attacks on Max Cleland, the vote against giving troops rest-time yesterday and calling it "demeaning," votes against body armor, allowing Halliburton to provide our troops with tainted water that sickens them and the panoply of ways the GOP proves soldiers are merely a useful prop to be disregarded when inconvenient.

Yet, this ad is a good step in the right direction of pointing out who really hates the troops.

It's pretty clear that Crying John Boehner's most recent inane statement dismissed the sacrifices made by our troops. He labeled almost 4,000 deaths and thousands upon thousands of physical injuries, cases of psychological trauma and numerous suicides among active military--a result of being lied into war by his party and it's contributors--a "small price."

Well, of course, that depends upon who's doing the paying. And it's never chickenhawks like Boehner, Bush, Cheney, McConnell, Giuliani, DeLay, Thompson, Gingrich, O'Reilly, Hannity and America's newest Partridge Family, The Traveling Romneys!

No, they let the riff-raff do their fighting for them while they sip brandy and eat mini-crab rangoon appetizers at parties thrown by war profiteers.

Now Boehner is claiming he was only talking about the "money" involved in the war. Not only is that obviously a lie. But I guess he means the gazillions of dollars spent in Iraq, and not on levees in New Orleans or bridges in Minneapolis or catching Osama bin Laden--so more Americans needlessly die--is no biggie.

Well I guess it's not...For him.

UPDATE: Apparently tpmelectioncentral.com ">John McCain and Joe Biden agree with me on this.

Really, John? Really?

Well, of course this is true for you, because you recline daily in your splendid little catered "cafeteria" while sipping Appletinis by night with the DC glitterati--all of you not making a single sacrifice for this war.

For some who have lost sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and friends, however, perhaps a deadly conflagration based on lies--manufactured by humanoids like you--was a somewhat larger price to pay than any you've ever had to endure for your ongoing malfeasance. They also don't have the war-profiteer checks arriving hand over fist, so perhaps life isn't quite as swell for them in that manner either.

Finally, being that you guys couldn't catch bin Laden if he dropped by RNC Headquarters to volunteer with a map of the Pentagon and an "Osama Your Mama" t-shirt (which, given all the assistance you've provided for his recruiting operation, I'm sure he'd do in a second), I have an idea.

Why don't you try buying him off with tobacco bribes, like you did with your GOP colleagues on the floor of the House a few years back. Just a thought.

Regardless, now that I am happy Ohio resident, I hope we get to see a bit more of each other soon, Mr. Boehner. I know, I know, you're as excited as I am, but seriously, you don't have to cry...
