I forgot to mention that Gibson went on to repeatedly claim that illegal drugs were involved in Ledger&rsquo;s death, despite the fact that no one (including the police) had found any illegal drugs in Ledger&rsquo;s apartment and no autopsy had been performed. After all, you don&#39;t repeatedly lie to people you like or respect. But a recent incident also illustrates that FOX clearly thinks/hopes their viewers are not only fools but racists, and FOX is willing to lie to their faces if it accomplishes the goal of whipping part of the country into a democrat/brown people-hating frenzy.<br /><br />On November 19&#39;s Big Story, creepily bleached John Gibson and co-host eye candy unit #647 Heather Nauert hit their viewers&#39; racist panic buttons with a story about &quot;The War on English&quot;. That&#39;s right, America, English is in danger! Lock up your books before the foreigners get them! <br /><br />In their &quot;story&quot;, Nauert, Gibson, and 2008 Most Racist Republican Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo were simply flabbergasted that Nancy Pelosi (D-Sodom and Gomorrah) is &quot;trying to force The Salvation Army to hire people who don&#39;t speak English.&quot; Nauert went on to ask &quot;Why doesn&#39;t the speaker of the United States think that workers in this country should all speak English?&quot; as Gibson tried desperately to wrap his blanched head around Pelosi&#39;s America betrayal, saying, &quot;OK, so, <strong>seems here that we have a war on English</strong>. &#39;Just say no to America&#39;s language.&#39; Why?&quot; On-screen graphics said the same (you can see the video and graphics <a href="http://mediamatters.org/items/200711210005" title="MM war on english">here</a>). <br /><br />Sounds crazy, right? Pelosi says employers HAVE TO hire workers who can&#39;t speak English! Bosses and workers will be FORCED to stare at each other in mutual incomprehension, unable to communicate, because scary liberal-big-government Pelosi has decreed it so! She must be stopped before she turns us all into Mexicans! Hasn&#39;t anyone thought of the children?!?! Tancredo, his finger squarely on the pulse of republican racism, has it all figured out:<br /><blockquote>[Pelosi&#39;s] trying to satisfy that part of the base which is, of course, pro-illegal immigration and pro-bilingualization of the country.<br /></blockquote>Nailed it! See, the democrats are the party of <em>brown people</em>. Republicans are the <em>white people</em> party, evidenced by the fact that they have told all non-whites in no uncertain terms to <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21022957/" title="GOP hates minorities">go fuck themselves</a> (Alberto Gonzalez, Condi Rice, and Clarence Thomas excepted). Tancredo is jazzed that democrats are conceding the bigoted asshole vote to the republicans, and <a href="http://www.coloradoconfidential.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=917" title="tancredo loves racists">Tancredo is popular among bigoted assholes</a>. &nbsp;<br /><br /><strong>The problem is that this whole story is based on a gigantic lie meant to deceive and galvanize FOX&#39;s misinformed, racist viewers. </strong><br /><br />Here&#39;s what <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/careers/work/la-fi-english20nov20,1,6423955.story?coll=la-headlines-business-careers&amp;amp;ctrack=4&amp;amp;cset=true" title="english only case"><em>really</em></a> happened. Two Spanish-speaking women had been working at a Salvation Army store in Massachusetts for five years sorting donations. FIVE YEARS. Their English is not very good, so as they worked, they would speak to each other in Spanish. This obviously did not affect their job performance or they probably would&#39;ve been fired sometime in the past FIVE YEARS. <strong>Chatting to each other in Spanish had no effect on their ability to sort donations.</strong> But in 2004, the Salvation Army enforced an English-only policy. The two women were fired for &ldquo;failing to learn English and for speaking Spanish&rdquo;.<br /><br />The women sued. Under federal law, <em>an employer cannot forbid a worker from speaking a non-English language if language has nothing to do with that worker&#39;s job performance or workplace safety.</em> This rule, enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, has existed for more than 30 years and is based on the 1964 Civil Rights Act. In the past, the EEOC has defended workers who claimed their employers tried to prevent them from speaking their native language during lunch breaks or while on the phone with family.
