'Boogie Man' follows the life of Lee Atwater, the man who rocketed to the top of the republican party and created their playbook of cultural division, racism, and dirty tricks to secure victories for Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, and George W Bush. Karl Rove and Tucker Eskew (currently working for the McCain campaign) were two of his protégés. But Atwater was more than a hatchet man, who was filled with contradictions and died of brain cancer when he was 41.

'Murder, Lies' explores the true story of Clint Curtis, a software engineer who was asked by a Florida legislator in 2000 to write software to hack voting machines. Curtis becomes a whistleblower, turning his life into a political film noir where the first victim appears to be American democracy. In true noir fashion, the scheme to steal the 2004 (and 2008) elections using electronic voting machines deepens and widens — involving threats on Curtis life, the suspicious suicide of a citizen investigator who might have learned too much, and a trail that might lead to the White House. Journalist/blogger Brad Friedman (bradblog.com interviews the principals and leads us through this chilling story of democracy derailed.

Jonathan Mahler visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss his new book, "The Challenge: Hamdan v. Rumsfeld and the Fight Over Presidential Power." This event took place September 16, 2008 as part of the Authors@Google series.

An inspiring legal thriller set against the backdrop of the war on terror, The Challenge tells the inside story of a historic Supreme Court showdown. At its center are a Navy JAG and a young constitutional law professor who, in the aftermath of 9/11, find themselves defending their nation in the unlikeliest of ways: by suing the president of the United States on behalf of an accused terrorist in order to prevent the American government from breaking the law and violating the Constitution.

Mahler traces the journey of their client, Salim Ahmed Hamdan, from the Yemeni mosque where he was first recruited for jihad in 1998, through his years working as a driver for Osama bin Laden, to his capture in Afghanistan in November 2001 and his subsequent transfer to Guantanamo Bay. Jonathan Wilson discusses his book "Marc Chagall" as part of the Authors@Google series.

Wilson brilliantly demonstrates how Marc Chagall's life constitutes a grand canvas on which much of twentieth-century Jewish history is vividly portrayed. Chagall left Belorussia for Paris in 1910, at the dawn of modernism, looking back dreamily on the world he abandoned. After his marriage to Bella Rosenfeld in 1915, he moved to Petrograd, but eventually returned to Paris after a stint as a Soviet commissar for art. Fleeing Paris steps ahead of the Nazis, Chagall arrived in New York in 1941. Drawn to Israel, but not enough to live there, Chagall grappled endlessly with both a nostalgic attachment to a vanished past and the magnetic pull of an uninhibited secular present.
