They visited the Jean Sadot heritage website, read his memoirs and poems, and Lionel set this poem to his excellent and appropriate music. Other parts were added "stateside" by Vic & Rob Sadot, Dean A. Banks, and Ellen Lebowitz. The song celebrates how the Statue of Liberty represents American democracy and the unique historic friendship between France and the USA. It was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States and was designated a National Monument on October 15, 1924.
