He won more than four million votes nationwide and captured eight states.</p> <p>He served as the governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. Before entering politics, he was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister and worked for twelve years as full-time pastor. Huckabee's run for Republican presidential nomination was truly amazing.</p> <p>But beyond the headlines, few understand his transformation from a long-shot Evangelical candidate into a viable contender.
