RawReplay.com offers this footage from Pearl, MS TV station WAPT about a flap over students @ Pearl Middle School being threatened with discipline for mentioning Barack Obama's name on school grounds or on school buses.

RawStory.com (with whom RawReplay.com is affiliate) elaborates:

A controversy has erupted at a Mississippi junior high school over allegations that a bus driver and a coach threatened students with punishment for saying Barack Obama's name.

The incidents became public when outraged parents called the studios of WAPT news in Pearl, Miss. Some said their children were threatened by a bus driver with being written up and taken to the principal's office, others that their children were told by a girls' basketball coach they would be suspended.

Reginald Simpson, a student at Pearl Junior High, explained that when students on the bus started saying, "Obama is our president," the bus driver told them she didn't want to hear his name. One kid said, "This is history woman," and according to Simpson, "She pulled over and kicked me and the kid off the bus." They were left waiting at the high school and later taken to their own school.

"They feel like they afraid to say who our president is, cause they afraid they going to be in trouble," Reginald's mother Canishia told WAPT. "We teach our kids not to be racist, and here it is going on. I just feel hurt by it."

The Simpson family is black. However, another mother whose son was on the bus and who also plans to confront school officials about the incident is white. "This is what the whole election was about," Venus Neagu told WAPT. "It was supporting someone. And now that they've done it and they're on the school bus, now they're getting consequences for it."

School officials reviewed video from the bus and promised that no students would be punished. The superintendent released a statement saying, "It appears that some persons, out of disappointment and disillusionment with the election may have been so frustrated that they said something inappropriate to students. We have taken appropriate steps with the bus driver and the coach."

The WAPT story is also available here.

Let that be a lesson.

================================

Calm whisper of the praying which heighth of the celebration noise you inform: The Exaggerator (... and forget thou not The Exaggerator Collection)

The 20th Century Candidate: Teddy John Roosevelt McCain

Is he a Maverick or Rough Rider?

This must have been the worst week for Senator John McCain. To make matters worse, the polls show that Senator Barack Obama is catching up in major swing states such as Florida, Virginia, Nevada, Michigan and possibly Ohio.

The Gallup Poll shows right now Obama 50% - McCain 42%, Real Clear Politics Electoral College map shows Obama 301 - McCain 237.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=10

All things can change before an election.

Remember I claimed that McCain is a liberal! Remember that I claimed McCain pulled a "b-move" in picking Sarah Palin and trying to postpone [or cancel] the presidential debates!

Two Sunday morning talk shows, I was correct! This Week with George Stephanopoulos and Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

I get the opportunity to see Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsay Graham on the television. Both senators were trying their hardest to dodge the serious errors the McCain campaign made past the Republican National Convention.

I will elaborate on the issue.
______________________________
Bubba's gives McCain and Palin "Props"

Mr. Al Gore, tell President Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton to step the game up!

How com the savior of our economy Mr. William Jefferson Clinton, 42nd President of The United States give praise to Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin?

You know what: I was angry that Republicans are relishing in the odd praise of the Arizona senator! The very man who tried to remove him from office during his Monica Lewinsky scandal?

But that's ok, we always remind ourselves that Senator McCain cheated on [Carol Shepp and Cindy Hensley], President Clinton cheated on [Senator Hillary Clinton, former first lady].

Again, ever so gracious Senator Barack Obama has given Senator Clinton the chance to compete all the way to June 2008, even though he clearly had the advantage in delegates. Senator Obama clearly allows the Clinton campaign to contest Florida and Michigan delegates [even though Clinton and Obama both agreed to not contest the states].

Senator Obama gives the Clintons major airtime at the Democratic National Convention, allowed her name to be on the nomination process and urged his supporters to at least pay her debt off.

And this is what we get from Slick Willie...

No convincing praise of the Democratic nominee, brief statements about his role in the Obama campaign, giving McCain and Palin praise in order to make the P.U.M.A. and Republicans exploit this all the way to the election.

A president, who enjoyed high approval ratings, survived the impeachment and removal trial in congress, a president, who challenged those who didn't agree with him. A president who helped our nation through the first World Trade Center attack, Oklahoma City bombing, the Columbine shooting, Elian Gonzalez saga, U.S.S. Cole bombing, United States embassy bombings in two African nations, two bombings of American interest in the Middle East, the rise of a dictator in the country of Bosnia, Bob Dole, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, a near death experience, an injured leg, a man crashing into the White House in a plane, and didn't inhale after taking a puff of the joint.

Bill Clinton, you are not the man millions of people looked up too!
_____________________
Conservatives On The Attack! | Uh, You Got To Do Better Than That!

The first debate has mixed results from both campaigns. Both elaborated fairly on what they believe they can do as a president.

Google: Obama wins debate and you get 665,000 hits. McCain wins debate and you get 282,000 hits.

So once again, who do you think won the debates?

Thanks for viewing. Thank all the supporters of my videos. To all critics and those who blindly trust the media! Turn that television, radio and internet smear machine off. Let real media analysis do the work for you. I am not a fact-checker, journalist or media analysis. I am expressing an honest opinion about the general election and the corrupt mainstream media.
In Oxford, Mississippi, history in the making! Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain face off in a debate at the University of Mississippi.

This will be the first of three debates. I will give an analysis and also give a fair review of both candidates. But as of right now, I won't tell who won the debates, nor I will elaborate on mistakes. I want you to tell me what you observed during the debates. Remind yourselves that this is unscripted and both candidates were nervous about their answers. I am unscripted too. I am not trying to be a fact checker or a journalist.

Eric Etheridge visits Google's Mountain View, CA headquarters to discuss his book "Breach of Peace: Portraits of the 1961 Mississippi Freedom Riders." This event took place on June 24, 2008, as part of the Authors@Google series.

Breach of Peace celebrates the Freedom Riders, featuring rare-seen mug shots alongside stunning contemporary portraits. In the spring and summer of 1961, several hundred Americans—blacks and whites, men and women—converged on Jackson, Mississippi, to challenge state segregation laws. The Freedom Riders, as they came to be known, were determined to open up the South to civil rights: it was illegal for bus and train stations to discriminate, but most did and were not interested in change. Over 300 people were arrested and convicted of the charge "breach of the peace." Collected here in a richly illustrated, large-format book featuring over seventy contemporary photographs, alongside the original mug shots, and exclusive interviews with former Freedom Riders, is that testament: a moving archive of a chapter in U.S. history that hasn't yet closed.

A journalist and photographer, Eric Etheridge grew up in Carthage, Mississippi. He is a former editor at Rolling Stone, The New York Observer and Harper's. In 1995, he co-founded the magazine George with John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Last Thursday was the forty-fifth anniversary of the day civil rights leader Medgar Evers was assassinated outside his home in Jackson, Mississippi. Evers fought segregation of schools and public places, struggled to increase black voter registration, led business boycotts, and brought attention to the murders and lynchings, like the slaying of black teenager Emmett Till.

We speak to Medgar Evers' widow, the civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams.

Just yesterday I made a post about a bill heading through the Tennessee legislator which would make it a crime for undocumented workers to accept pay for working--with no mention, of course, of what would happen to their employers. Now, for another dash of insanity, we have lawmakers in Mississippi trying to pass a law which would make it a felony for undocumented immigrants to have a job. The bill also includes some punishment for employers, but let's make a comparison.

A shipyard in the US state of Mississippi is accused of using a "guest worker" programme to exploit hundreds of workers from India.

The skilled welders and pipe fitters claim Signal International lured them to the country with false promises of a green card.

The workers say the company forced them to live in inhumane conditions and threatened them when they protested.

Brice Philips the founder of WQRZ 103.5 in Bay Saint Louis/ Waveland Mississippi was one of the remaining forms of communication after Hurricane Katrina destroyed the gulf coast. With the use of HAM Radio and Broadcast FM (103.5) his was able to provide emergency information to the rescue workers and the public when all other forms of communication were down. Today the station is broadcasting on a less then shoestring budget providing the community of Hancock County with local up dates, weather and an eclectic style of music.

This is mind-boggling, nausea-inducing, and once again, head-exploding:

U.S. health officials are urging that Gulf Coast hurricane victims be moved out of their government-issued trailers as quickly as possible after tests found toxic levels of formaldehyde fumes.

Fumes from 519 trailer and mobile homes in Louisiana and Mississippi were — on average — about five times what people are exposed to in most modern homes, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In some trailers, the levels were nearly 40 times customary exposure levels, raising fears that residents could contract respiratory problems.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency — which supplied the trailers — should move people out quickly, with priority given to families with children, elderly people or anyone with asthma or other chronic conditions, said Mike McGeehin, director of a CDC division that focuses on environmental hazards.

"We do not want people exposed to this for very much longer," McGeehin said.

That last point was an understatement. So was what I just said about it being an understatement.

This is one of those posts I don't have time to get into, so I'll just copy and paste. Scream in Comments. Know that I'm screaming with you.

CDC officials said the study did not prove people became sick from the fumes, but merely took a snapshot reading of fume levels. Only formaldehyde was tested, they added. [...]

Last May, FEMA officials dismissed findings by environmentalists that the trailers posed serious health risks. They said the trailers conformed to industry standards. [...]

Last week, congressional Democrats accused FEMA of manipulating scientific research in order to play down the danger posed by formaldehyde in the trailers.

In its initial round of testing, FEMA took samples from unoccupied trailers that had been aired out for days and compared them with federal standards for short-term exposure, according to the lawmakers.

Legislators also said the CDC ignored research from — and then demoted — one of its own experts, who concluded any level of exposure to formaldehyde may pose a cancer risk. A CDC spokesman has denied the allegations.

Okay, on 3, start screaming: 1... 2... THREE!!!!!!!!!!!

Big h/t to OhDave the WonderBlogger
