FLDS Children forced Vaccinations against the Parents wishes

Texas authorities have asked foster care providers to immunize every FLDS child - despite some parents' concerns about possible negative effects. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services sent letters to 16 group homes and shelters this week asking them to line up shots for the children. "It appears to be a totally unimmunized population," said Patrick Crimmins, department spokesman. "We're the legal parents of the children and we would like for them to be
immunized." Crimmins said the state requires all children in custody to be immunized for their "health and safety." He said no one would be forced to get inoculations; older children specifically would have the opportunity to decline the shots. A Dallas attorney called the demand "outrageous." "The truth is [FLDS parents] don't kow what to do," said Polly R. O'Toole, who represents one child. "They would prefer to make that decision. But they are afraid to exercise any options out of fear they will be perceived as uncooperative by CPS." Rod Parker, a Salt Lake City attorney who has acted as a spokesman for the FLDS, said some children have been immunized but their health records are in Utah. Willie Jessop, an FLDS member and spokesman, said some parents have immunized their children and some have not. "It's an individual decision," he said. But the parents "oppose forced mandates of things happening to their children they don't even know about."

A state appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamist sect's ranch.

The Third Court of Appeals in Austin ruled that the grounds for removing the children were "legally and factually insufficient" under Texas law. They did not immediately order the return of the children.

The Texas Rio Grande Legal Aide Society (TRLA)represented 48 FLDS mothers. TRLA attorney Julie Balovich said, "The way that the courts have ignored the legal rights of these mothers is ridiculous. It was about time a court stood up and said that was, has been happening to these families is wrong."

Patrick Crimmins, CPS spokesman released a statement. It said, "We just received the information from the court of appeals, and it's being reviewed. We are trying to assess the impact this will have on our case. Any decision regarding an appeal will be made later."

The woman who helped send FLDS leader Warren Jeffs to prison says she has mixed feelings about fundamentalist children returning to the parents

Elissa Wall says she feels for the FLDS children in Texas protective custody but believes this could hamper the state's investigation.

She says, "And the sad thing is, is these people is so sequestered, and they are so secret that we don't know if these children will just disappear now, once they go back."

The former FLDS child bride tells KSL's "Doug Wright Show" that she worked with officials in the Lone Star State and says this may have never happened if members of the ranch would have been upfront and honest. She believes CPS officials did the right thing after entering the ranch.

Child welfare officials removed the children on the grounds that the sect pushed underage girls into marriage and sex and trained boys to become future perpetrators.

The appellate court ruled the chaotic hearing held last month did not demonstrate the children were in any immediate danger, the only measure of taking children from their homes without court proceedings.

COURT says Texas had NO RIGHT to take POLYGAMIST'S CHILDREN

The state of Texas should not have removed the more than 460 children it took from a polygamist sect's ranch because it didn't prove they were in "imminent enough" danger, an appeals court ruled Thursday.
In its ruling, the Texas 3rd District Court of Appeals decided in favor of 38 women who had appealed the removals, as well as a decision last month by a district judge that the children will remain in state custody.
"The existence of the FLDS belief system as described by the department's witnesses, by itself, does not put children of FLDS parents in physical danger," the three-judge panel said.
An attorney representing the mothers said the trial court that originally backed the state's seizure of the children has 10 days to vacate its decision. If it doesn't, the appeals court will act, said Julie Balovich of the Texas RioGrande Legal Aid.
"It is a great day for families in the state of Texas," she said.

Colorado shooter had been baptized Mormon

The man who went on a killing spree inside a pair of Colorado churches Sunday had been baptized recently into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The LDS Church confirmed Wednesday that Matthew Murray had joined the faith, being baptized a little more than a year ago.

A heavily-armed Murray, 24, killed four people and wounded five others in separate attacks at the Youth With A Mission center in Arvada and the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. He was shot by a security guard at the church, and then killed himself.

Wonder how long it will be before Old Huckleberry drops that bomb with his fundie friends? FRC's Tony Perkins already said about the shooting, "It is hard not to draw a line between the hostility that is being fomented in our culture from some in the secular media toward Christians and evangelicals in particular and the acts of violence that took place in Colorado yesterday." So they were already looking for a way to martyr themselves.

When you pull religion into politics, you sure open up a can of slimy worms for everyone. He was a sad, messed up kid who lashed out, that's all.
