A new film from Big Noise.

In a small town in Louisiana, six families are fighting for their sons' lives.

Two nooses are left as a warning to black students trying to integrate their playground, fights break out across town, a white man pulls a shotgun on black students, someone burns down most of the school, the DA puts six black students on trial for attempted murder, and the quiet town of Jena becomes the site of the largest civil rights demonstration in the South since the 1960s.

The Jena 6 is the story of hidden racial inequality and violence becoming visible. It is a powerful symbol for, and example of, how racial justice works in America -- where the lynching noose has been replaced by the DA's pen.

Yes, this is as sickening as you thought it was when you read the title.

If this is true--and I have no reason at this time to believe it isn't--it is just example number 157,000 of how right-wing, think-tank-welfare-babies like Dinesh D'Souza are complete and utter morons.

Yeah, racism is dead pal. Oh, and you actually earned the palacial mansion that encapsulates your brain-dead corpus in the suburbs of San Diego. That's true too.

In fact, maybe Republican State Senator and immigration/race philosopher Denny Altes from Fort Smith Arkansas would have something to say about this?:

"We are where we were with the black folks after the revolutionary war. We can't send them back and the more we p *** them off the worse it will be in the future. So what do we do," the e-mail states. "I say the governor needs to try to enforce the law and sign the letter of understanding... and at least we can send the troublemakers back. Sure we are being overrun but we are being outpopulated by the blacks also. What is the answer, only time will tell."

What say you, Mr. Altes? Perhaps you can re-segregate Central High?

This is what we're still dealing with in 2007 folks. This gentleman was working on a rig off the coast of Louisiana, and takes a nap. He wakes up with a noose around his neck and three white workers standing over him. They say it was a "prank."

Now that's comedy! Perhaps they can use it to bring back the Fox Half Hour Comedy Hour or whatever that crappy show was called.

In any case, this gets better. The victim tells his bosses at Noble Drilling (of Houston, call them and send your regards), and they fired him for "sleeping on the job." It was during his break. God forbid workers take one of those.

Now he's suing them. Let's hope, against all odds, Noble takes it in the gut.

Jena - John Mellencamp's Music Video

John Mellencamp decided to write a song and produce a music video about the "Jena 6" while he was working on a new album. This is the statement he released.

I am not a journalist, I am a songwriter and in the spirit and tradition of the minstrel, I am telling a story in this song. The story is not, strictly speaking, about the town of Jena or this specific incident but of racism in America. The song was not written as an indictment of the people of Jena but, rather, as a condemnation of racism, a problem which I've reflected in many songs, a problem that still plagues our country today. The current trial in Jena is just another reflection of prejudice in our nation. If the song strikes an emotional chord with people and if they examine it and interpret as they will, something will have been accomplished. The aim here is not to antagonize but, rather, to catalyze thought.

Jena, Louisiana. Six black teenagers are accused of beating a white student. The incident followed white students hanging nooses from a tree on school grounds. Initially five of the "Jena Six" teens were charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, to be tried as adults by an all-white jury.
