Despite the destabilising effects of rumours about the health of their Dear Leader, Kim Jong Il, international condemnation over their nuclear programme, and a dysfunctional economy that has brought mass starvation to its people, the DPRK maintains a status quo of near total media lockdown.

Although a trickle of outside media have been allowed in recently, as Tony's piece illustrates, what they see only offers a fleeting and superficial glimpse of life inside the so-called 'hermit kingdom'.

Let Yonaguska Speak!!!

This is an excerpt from the September 17th public meeting of New jersey's Commission on American Indian Affairs.

There was an understanding reached that Yonaguska would be allowed to make a full presentation on behalf of his people.

As you'll see, for ten minutes (actually it was more like 13 but YouTube only allows ten minute segments) the Commission members and their attorney through all manner of procedural contortions to stifle Yonaguska's presentation.

They eventually settle on giving him ten minutes.....abut would have been better off giving him the twenty he originally asked for as they would have been three minuted "ahead of the game".

Then again, it seems that their aim may not have been simply to save time.

I am putting this snip up now because there will be another meeting of this body this Wednesday November 19th...and once again, there has been an "undertsanding" reached to allow Yonaguska to make a full presentation.

Let us hope that we don't see a repeat of the same type of fiasco you see on the video.

"She was a quiet hero," Obama said.

Toot, short for "Tutu" (grandmother in Hawaiian) died from cancer. She was 86 years old.

Q: If were still in Iraq what would you do immediately after taking office and how would you deal with the Iraq situation?

HUCKABEE: The first thing I do is call a summit of all the nations in that region including the UAE, the Kuwaits, the Saudis, Turkey, we would sit down with Jordan and every other nation in that region, obviously Iran wouldnt want to participate. But all those nations that pledged billions of dollars to the security of Iraq, if you saw the front page of the USA Today you probably saw that of those pledges that they made in the billions, most of paid a pittance of what they pledged, to help in this effort. So it means that the United States is paying the full fray. And Id look at them in the eye and say look lets make this real clear, weve paid for it, both sides.
Our tax dollars in America have paid for the military thats tried to bring stability to it but our oil dollars that have made you rich has ended up going to fund the very Madrasas to train the terrorists in the first place because a lot of the oil money, thats where it ends up. Terrorism takes a lot of money and these training camps and the travel and all Where do they get that money? They get it from oil dollars, thats where they get it. And Id make it real clear to the people who have not paid up on their pledges that this is your neighborhood and if it, if it goes up in flames youre gonna get scortched before we will.
And yes it will hurt us in the United States and it will create a vacuum can create a base or Iran can come and invade, and maybe capture territory that they sure have wanted for a long time anyway But Id make it real clear to them that the American people are not going to continue let their own roads and bridges and airports choke while were rebuilding those in Iraq and at the same time were financing a war for your benefit and youre not even helping us pay for it. Were paying not just with dollars were paying with the blood of American men and women. And that day has got to come to an end. And the day that youre gonna start paying for it starts on my first day as president.

(At this point a women stands up and holds a sign). She shouts, What about the children in Iraq?...Please, What about the Iraqis?...What about the Iraqis?..Be pro-life and stop the killing in Iraq. Be pro-life and stop the killing in Iraq.

Huckabee brushes it off and says: Let me address one thing, I appreciate you coming. The good thing is that you live in a free country and you can make your statements and we respect that. And, let me express (getting interpreted by screaming woman). The beauty of America is that a person can come and even make a disruption and you know what that person is not going to be taken out and shot. In many places on this planet a person who disrupted a public event and challenged a person running for office, and be taken out and executed. We live in a great country folks that a person can make her statement and shes gonna get to be heard, shell probably get a nice little on the news tonight for having disrupted this. But this is a free country and free speech. Now we like to have it so its orderly and respectful of others and hopefully everybody will abide by that. But you know, you may say Ohh, thats a terrible thing. No, its a wonderful affirmation of who we are as a nation. I celebrate that we had the disruption for this reason: its a reminder to me and to every one of us of the incredible blessing of being in a country where a person can even disrupt a public gathering and will probably not spend a night in jail over it, will not be put aside as a political prisoner for years, try that in Cuba. Try that in Iran Try that in North Korea. And thats why I say lets not be angry at the person, lets just be grateful that once again were reminded of how grateful we ought to be to be citizens of the United States of America.

(At this point, once again, another woman stands up (maybe the same woman) and shouts): Governor, lets promote democracy in Iraq. Lets bring our soldiers home. Five years No electricity, no running water, after five years of occupation

Then the moderator said, Only in San Francisco.

Huckabee responds to the moderators comments, Oh no, it even happens in South Carolina and Iowa and all the other places on earth. But thats again, thats what I love about America, we still get to say that, thank god for it.
