FBI knew about O.J. Simpson's plan

Maybe this time some charges will stick:

Federal agents learned three weeks in advance that O.J. Simpson and a memorabilia dealer planned an operation to retrieve personal items Simpson said were stolen from him, according to FBI reports obtained Friday by The Associated Press.
Dealer Thomas Riccio said he reported to the FBI a collector who claimed to have belongings taken from Simpson.

So the sleaziest (from what everyone is reporting, and what's been said in the interviews with the other suspects) of the gang went to the FBI ahead of time. That's quite a twist.

Another twist: Guess who was the one who wanted to video tape the sting:

Riccio told FBI agents Aug. 21 that Simpson wanted to videotape the confrontation with the collector, who was peddling thousands of pieces of Simpson's memorabilia.

The report has no mention of any plans to use guns.

"I went along with O.J.'s plan," Riccio told the AP on Friday. "It was a self-organized sting operation. Except for the final result, with him bringing people who had guns. I knew nothing about that."

Simpson, 60, and five other men were arrested after they allegedly stormed a Las Vegas hotel room with guns drawn Sept. 13 to seize items that were believed to include family photos and the suit Simpson wore the day he was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend.

The suit he wore when he was acquitted of murder: How sentimental. How heart-warming. How ... creepy.

Simpson has denied there were any guns involved. He said Riccio set up the meeting and he planned to surprise Beardsley and retrieve his property.

Mr. Laffy once wrote for an HBO series for O.J. and would come home with stories about what a womanizing putz he was. The more things change, the more things stay the same. And then some.

"Last Blog Standing" starts riiight....now!

Yes, it's time to steal a few more jokes from my father-in-law. For those of you who might be new here, he used to write for Alan King, Milton Berle and Jonathan Winters, just to name a few. And all those Dean Martin Roasts, too: Don Rickles, Red Buttons, Phyllis Diller, Sammy Davis, Jr., etc.

Although I doubt if he could make Blackwater sound funny. We would all die laughing...literally.

A tiny respite from all the frustrating events of the day:

O.J. was arrested and is being charged with 11 criminal counts including armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and burglary. Well, there goes his good name.
Flooding continues in the Midwest. Now our country's not only going down the drain in Washington -- but in Ohio too.

Republicans held a presidential debate at the historically black Morgan State University. When the candidates stepped on to the stage someone in the audience was heard saying, "Well, there goes the neighborhood."

I've haven't seen an audience this quiet since I played the White House! What is this, a blog or an oil painting?

Now we can focus on him, you know, like 24/7 on the news, and not have to talk about Iraq, our broken health care system, the criminal Republicans running this country, Iran, and the 9 trillion dollar debt!

This is the best thing to happen to network/cable news since Anne Nicole Smith died or Britney danced in her nighty after a trip to Dunkin' Donuts!

I know I'm relieved....
