Obama was no doubt trying to appeal to conservative voters, since 88% of FOX viewers voted Republican in 2004. But FOX won't let their conservative base go without a fight. That's why O'Reilly needled and interrupted Obama, trying to get him to simplify many of his answers—a far cry from the softballs O'Reilly lobbed at many prominent Republicans like Rudy Giuliani in the past. And that's why FOX has been attacking Obama with the same relentless smear tactics that they used against John Kerry four years ago. Watch them use the exact same attacks.

By Eugene Robinson OBAMA FACES THE SMEAR MACHINE Par for Mr. Corsi The "author," and I use the term loosely, whose vicious lies damaged John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign has crawled back out from under his rock to spew vicious lies about Barack Obama. Right-wing radio talk-show hosts are dutifully transmitting this concocted venom. This presidential campaign has officially gotten ugly. The "author" I'm talking about is a man named Jerome Corsi. In a book published last year, "The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada," Corsi claimed that George W. Bush was at the heart of a secret conspiracy to subsume the United States into a post-national, one-worldish North American Union. Corsi's writings on far-right blogs have been even more paranoid and delusional. He has written that pedophilia, for which he used a more graphic term, "is OK with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press." He has referred to Muslims as "ragheads." Corsi would be known as just another visitor from the outer fringe if he had not been the co-author of "Unfit for Command," the book that slimed Kerry's exemplary record as a Swift boat commander in Vietnam. The allegations in that book were discredited, but not before they had been amplified by the right-wing echo chamber to the point where they raised questions in some voters' minds -- perhaps enough to swing the election. It was an abominable trick, but quite remarkable. Kerry's opponent, George W. Bush, had avoided Vietnam by taking refuge in the Texas Air National Guard. Kerry was a decorated war hero, yet somehow his valor and sense of duty were turned into a political negative and used against him. Now Corsi, in what he acknowledges is an attempt "to keep Obama from getting elected," has come out with a book that similarly tries to turn one of Obama's strengths -- his compelling life story -- into a liability. Corsi's new volume of vitriol, "The Obama Nation," seeks to smear Obama as a "leftist" and add fuel to the false and discredited rumor that he is secretly a radical Muslim, or at least has "extensive connections to Islam." The liberal Web site Media Matters has already demonstrated that the book is riddled with factual errors -- for example, Corsi repeats the charge, thoroughly disproved, that Obama was in church for one of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's most incendiary sermons. But the point isn't to tell the truth. The point is to repeat the lie and thus give it new life. Corsi's dirty work is more difficult this time because Obama has already written his life story in the autobiographical "Dreams From My Father." Since he can't reveal anything about Obama's past, Corsi is reduced to reinterpretation -- or, at times, invention. It sounds like the kind of book that should quickly be consigned to the remainder bin, but -- unsurprisingly -- it is already a bestseller. The Post and other news organizations have noted that this and similar anti-Obama books win the imprimatur of best-seller status by being "pushed by conservative book clubs that buy in bulk to drive up sales." This time, though, somebody is pushing back: John Kerry, whose political action committee has launched a new Web site, called Truth Fights Back, to "fight against the right-wing smear machine." The site weighs in vigorously on behalf of several Democrats who are being hit with unfair attacks, but its most urgent campaign is "making sure Jerome Corsi doesn't get away with his lies unchallenged." The Obama campaign faces a classic dilemma. If smear attacks are left unanswered, voters can get the impression that the lies are true. But there's no way to respond without giving the falsehoods wider circulation. For Obama, this choice seems doubly fraught. Just look at the way John McCain's campaign jumped all over Obama when he predicted -- correctly, it turns out -- that Republicans would try to scare voters by making him seem alien and somehow frightening. His observation about not looking like previous presidents was opportunistically slammed by McCain and his surrogates as playing "the race card." Yesterday, the Obama campaign released a lengthy rebuttal of Corsi's book. The vacationining candidate himself remained silent, leaving it to others, such as Kerry, to give a more full-throated response. Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church in California hosted a forum on issues in the faith; both presidential candidates attended the event. I will mention some points and highlights of the forum. Speculation of the forum being a set up is being claimed. As Senators Barack Obama and John McCain were questioned by Pastor Warren, word on the street, the McCain campaign didn't heed the word of obliging to the "cone of silence". The Obama campaign did poor job when it came to faith, and it will give ammunition to conservative critics. Liberal critics are amazed how successful McCain joked, and sped through the questions so gracefully when most of the questions required some form of example to why you are a believer in faith. McCain was so good it may have been considered "too good to be true"! Andrea Mitchell of NBC News stated and The New York Times reported on McCain not being in attendance of the forum and could have "cheated" the questions. On my computer, there lies Cindy McCain wife of Senator McCain to the right of her is Kay Warren, the wife of Pastor Warren.

So it's clear that McCain may have cheated because a few months back he urged Senator Obama to appear in a town hall in New York. Fox News covered it and then at the end of his town hall, Shepard Smith told the audience that there were no Obama supporters, just McCain supporters, Independent mayor Michael Blomberg, and some independent-leaning McCain supporters.

So that's what the game is. Well Mr. McCain if you are to cheat on your wife , you are more likely to cheat in debates, forums and disadvantaging poor, Black, Latino and Native American voters. Those who vote Democrat, of course. I'll see you in Dayton, Senator John McCain.

Ludacris is in the cross hairs of Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Released a freestyle praising Obama but slamming Hillary Clinton, John McCain and President Bush.

Nas and ColorOfChange is protesting against News Corporation after Bill O'Reilly threatened the Virgina Tech University president. O'Reilly wanted the president fired for having Nas perform at a dedication concert.

Snoop Dogg was on a Netherlands television slamming Bill O'Reilly. Snoop Dogg during a NBC appearance was arrest for a weapons violation. Bill O'Reilly stated that, "He could make a prison just for [Snoop Dogg]!"

Akon was targeted by Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin and Bill O'Reilly after footage of him dancing with a underage fan surfaced on YouTube. Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham successfully had him dropped from Verizon Wireless.

Robert Kelly who performs under the name R. Kelly was in Fox News cross hairs. The signer was under trial for the child pornography. Fox News lauded on the singer and Bill O'Reilly labeled him a child molester regardless of the verdict. R. Kelly was found not guilty on the charges.

Jay-Z was mentioned by Fox News. Earl "DMX" Simmons is a known controversial rapper. DMX also mentioned in Fox News stories.

Most hip-hop websites already decided that Fox News is unceremoniously racist. Media Matters for America already find that Fox News lacks diversity in anchors. Fox News has no journalism awards for any of their documentaries and prime time shows. Scott McClellan outed the network as a propaganda arm of the White House.

We have to fight back against Fox News, they stole the swagger! We have to stay on the defense. If you keep throwing the truth in their face, they will back off.

As a fan of hip-hop, I can't tolerate the double standard between hip hop and the world of politics. They both have controversy and they influence millions. But for a professional news network to blatantly smear a presidential candidate is pathetic.

Fox News is not fair nor balanced. It's a circus of blond women, angry old white men and missing pretty women. Put a blond on Fox News and what do you get? Ratings!

And finally Senator Barack Obama addresses the issue with Sean Hannity and Fox News. The thick-skinned Sean Hannity is very angered by the Glamour Magazine interview in which Senator Obama acknowledged the pundit and right wing media has been on a war against his wife, Michelle.

Hannity must have rubbed Obama the wrong way. I mean over the past five months, the talk radio and Fox News commentator has been railing on Michelle Obama for her "first time in her adult life, I'm [truly] proud of my country....." Senator Obama ignored the pundit for the most part. But as soon as Hannity went forth on his wife, the senator had gone into being a loving husband and will defend his wife.

Of course, the media floundered her and according to the Associated Press/Yahoo Poll, Mrs. Obama approval ratings are high, but the disapproval ratings are just about as high.

Senator Obama has made it clear in the ABC Good Morning America show, "better lay off his wife!"

Now progressives claim Senator Obama's wife is facing the most scrutiny, while no one in the media talks about Senator John McCain's wife, Cindy.

Before you cast a stone on any wife of a candidate, I condone anyone taking this type of road to attack a candidate. Regardless if you are Republican or Democrat, taking political shots at your wife/girlfriend and/or children is low class.

Politicians, television critics, viewers, activists, actors, comedians, rappers, musicians, and even presidential candidates are snubbing Fox News! Over 12 years, and the most watched news network has became an industry joke! See how low the media goes! And the network's impact will gravely hurt the Republicans in the general election.

So therefore, why worry about my opinion! Fox News is doing a great job of sabotaging the Republicans.

Instead of commenting on the general election, I will just ask for you to read it first and then go to the links and then decide for yourselves. I can't make you change your minds but I want to clarify that there is a negative and downright bigoted campaign against Senator Barack Obama.

I don't think FOX News understands the mentality of Chicago, Illinois. I was once told that messing with Chicago is like a hoe messing with a pimp. And what does a pimp do?

Sean Hannity was grinding his tooth and nail to say that Senator Obama's connection with Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Michael Pfleger and Tony Rezko lasted 20 years. I guess Hannity has problem with Obama being married to Michelle for nearly that long too...

Ok, let's start with Tony Rezko, a real estate broker who was indicted and convicted of fraud. Ok, Rezko may contribute some cash to Obama's failed chance at taking a Representative seat. And yeah, I guess some of Rezko's money helped Obama win the Senate seat. But did Rezko contribute to the Obama presidential campaign? No, it happens to be the current president, not the senator! NewsMeat is a daily tracker of political contributions from celebrities, politicians and lobbyist firms. Notice that Tony Rezko contributed to President George W. Bush twice. Where's FOX News on that? I guess the so-called "radical" Barack Obama has ties to someone who contributed to the Bush presidency.

Earlier in the last five videos, I somewhat defended the comments of Wright and the smear campaign against his church. Father Michael Pfleger was suspended from St. Albans Parish after the Chicago Archdiocese urged Pfleger to step down in order to quarry the controversy. The priest made controversial comments about Senator Hillary Clinton. But I happened to stumble across Allhiphop.com, and happen to remember the issue with rapper Twista and his McDonald's endorsement squashed. It seems that Pfleger led for the rapper to be dropped from McDonalds. Bill O'Reilly had defended Pfleger's position a year ago. Now all of sudden, O'Reilly now attacks on Pfleger! O'Reilly had no problem with him at the time when the priest called upon a boycott of Twista.

Bill Ayers, the professor of English at the University of Illinois - Chicago. The professor and his wife are in the crosshairs of the right! Just when FOX News decides to call Obama a racist for being in a church for nearly 20 years of his young life, now the network wants to compare him to anti-war radical who had done criminal acts in the 1960s. A man Barack Obama knew for a brief time while working on community outreach in Chicago. And wasn't Obama only "eight years old" at the time of Ayers' rebellion.

In closing! I believe that Republicans and those on FOX News are really afraid of the impact Obama has! They evoke race, gender, Ronald Reagan, Democrats bloodied, Vietnam War, the support our troops, you're anti-American phrase and Osama bin Laden in order seek voters. They call people "liberal", "leftist", and "socialist" just because they don't agree with the opinion of the person they attack.

These typical right wing talking points are played out. And if the message was ever clear: I honestly believe that FOX News is easily sabotaging their core base! Republicans who lean conservative! The people this network attacks on have friends who are also voters too! If FOX News and the rest of mainstream media don't stop attacking on those I have mentioned. These people will call upon their family and friends!

This will eventually send a message to the Republicans who are facing tough re-election campaigns in the general election. So as President Bush leaves the White House as lame duck president. Is it possible that FOX News will go in that same direction?
