JOHN MCCAIN: I think I can convince a majority of Americans that we face this transcendent challenge. The good news is, and by the way I think the president of the United States deserves some credit, for the fact that there has not been another attack on the United States of America since 9/11. I think he would probably be getting the blame if there had been and obviously that leads to a bit of complacency. But I think that as a leader you have to keep emphasizing to the American people the nature and the pervasiveness of this threat. We are in two wars, Afghanistan and Iraq and both of those wars we have young Americans in harm's way. In Afghanistan things are not going as well as we wanted it to-, wanted to for a variety of reason. There's great uncertainty as to what the new government of Pakistan is going to do in relation to the Taliban, particularly on the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan. So I think that, I'm not sure I agree with the the 30-40% number, but I could I also tell you that on 9/11 I wouldn't've told the American people to take a trip or go shopping. I would've told them to serve this country, join the Peace Corps, join the military, join Americorps, join neighborhood volunteer organizations to make sure our neighborhoods are safe and secure, join, join, join and serve, serve this country, serve a cause greater than your self interest. And I think the American people would've responded very postively and affirmatively, instead of what we did.
