The remarkably talented and wonderfully inspiring Sarah Jones is a Tony and Obie Award-winning playwright, actress and poet who has been described by The New Yorker as a “multicultural mynah bird who lays our mongrel nation before us with gorgeous, pitch-perfect impersonations of the rarely heard or dramatized.” The Nation put her into rare company alongside Anna Deavere Smith, Danny Hoch and Lily Tomlin, describing the four as “virtuosic mimics and also penetrating social critics who use themselves as documentary cameras and editorializing mirrors.” She has created works commissioned by Equality Now, the National Immigration Forum, and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, and she has performed for the United Nations. As well, she received an NYCLU Calloway Award for recognition of Jones as the first artist in history to sue the Federal Communications Commission for censorship.

She makes art that entertains, questions, and impacts her audience. She uses the tools she’s been given to shine light on individuals whose lives are normally kept hidden. Through her, we’re shown new worlds.
