Barack Obama Attracts Crowds - John McCain Attracts Audiences Pt. "5-A"| The media loves the ratings, not the candidates!

Senator Barack Obama has been at war with Fox News for many years. I mean where does the list begin? Fox News made a living out of drawing false conclusions about the senator and his wife Michelle. To much dismay in some of the progressive blogs, Senator Barack Obama will appear on The O'Reilly Factor. Senator John McCain blast MSNBC and NBC News for Andrea Mitchell and Keith Olbermann's critical analysis of him. McCain cancels appearance on Larry King Live after CNN anchors make inappropriate comments about the campaign and his vice presidential candidate.

Thanks for viewing and post comments at the bottom. Take a stand against corporate owned media by turning off the television, the radio and internet smear machine off. Let the real media analysis do the hard work for you. Don't let the media control your voice, your judgments, and your vote.

Couldn't help but speak on this forsaken network! After Obama held ground against most of its journalists, in particular Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, the senator eased tension by accepting to be interviewed on the primetime news program.

Of course, the next day, bragging rights? After all, Fox News touts around they are the ones who score big interviews more than the many times he's been on CNN and MSNBC.

Last year, Senator Barack Obama and the Democratic contenders voided two of the networks sponsored debates.

In 2008, Fox News allocated the partisan attacks and plain buffoonery from O'Reilly, Liz Trotta, E.D. Hill, Meghan Kelly, Dr. Jerome Corsi, Juan Williams, Chris Wallace, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Dick Morris, Steve Doocy, Greta Van Susteren, and of course Sean Hannity. Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch brokered a "cease-fire" deal with the Obama campaign. I guess it's a "truce". A bittersweet victory for those who are opposed to Fox News and its antics.

Will this be the "I'll Scratch Your Back, If You Scratch Mine!" moment that O'Reilly gets?

Enough about Fox News, recently in an interview with Jack Cafferty on CNN's The Situation Room, Wolf Blitzer asked the pundit about his thoughts on Senator John McCain. Cafferty responded with the following statement:

It occurs to me that John McCain is as intellectually shallow as our current President.

Campbell Brown from Election Center made a comment that angered the McCain Campaign in which it canceled his appearance on Larry King Live.

And of course, there's Andrea Mitchell from NBC News. After Senator John McCain gave his best performance at the Saddleback Forum, Mitchell questioned the appropriateness of his performance. In which she stated that:

"McCain may have [cheated] the forum"!

McCain is not appreciating his "base" covering him negatively, and he's taking the marbles and going home. Obama is putting gasoline on a fire with his appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, and making sure that disappointments are bound to happen. What do you think this?

You think that McCain should alienate CNN and MSNBC?

You think that Obama should continue to appear on Fox News?

You think that media watchdogs groups such as the Media Matters for America and Media Research Center, do a part to control "the out of control [for ratings]" partisan media?

Thanks Robert Greenwald and Fox Attacks for the standing up against the corporate owned media!

Although I enjoyed Barack Obama's recent web ad "Embrace" (the one with lots of hugging between Bush and McCain), I still think the campaign needs to be a little harsher. The idea of a continuation of Bush policies into a third term should be scary, not playful. Furthermore, I think it's important to emphasize that McCain has been "doubling down" on Bush's policies at the same time the rest of the nation (and world) has been abandoning them. I created this ad to illustrate the kind of concept I'd like to see Obama's team develop. Again, not claiming to match the quality of Obama's ad team here. :) But I think that it's a good message, and would work well on the disenfranchised former Bush supporters (or at least people who had neutral feelings about him early on), who feel like they know better know, and wouldn't make that mistake again. If the American people can "get it" about Bush, why can't McCain? (p.s. -- music by Kevin MacLeod!)

But the snub means that once again Fox News will be denied the chance to leave its imprint on the all-important debates. It won't be able to build its brand on the back of Democrats who have injected extraordinary passion and interest into the White House run.

On May 1, 2008 Rudy Giuliani interviewed Steve Forbes on FBN's America's Nightly Scoreboard. Both men failed in bids for the White House. They discussed their ideas for the future of the American economy.

FOX Business Network's ratings are unavailable, since parent company News Corps will not permit Neilsen to release them. A leaked memo from last January indicates that FBN's ratings at that time averaged about 6,500 viewers.

On a daily basis FOX's head business honcho Neil Cavuto literally begs viewers to ask their cable providers for FBN.

Brian Stelter points out in the May 12th edition of The New York Times that there will be a reshuffle of the line-up, effective immediately.

FBN is Roger Ailes' baby. FBN is supposed to be business news that "Main Street" can understand.

I have news for Ailes.

Those people on "Main Street" aren't stupid.

They know that they are being insulted on a daily basis by the likes of Jonathan Hoenig and John Bradshaw Layfield who routinely refer to them as slackers and lazy people who want to steal the rich man's purse.

They are descending (and condescending) into a desperation fueled by their own crumbling credibility. They are finding it increasingly difficult to lure fair-minded commentators and public figures to appear on their tainted air. This results in an over-reliance on plainly biased personalities like their newest contributors, Tony Snow, Rick Santorum, and Karl Rove. I expect we will also be seeing a lot more of Dick Morris, Ann Coulter, and Bill Kristol, as the Foxians resort to just interviewing one another.

And to explain the video:

The more people tune them out, the higher they turn up the volume on their idiocy amplifier (and they’re already way past eleven). Then even more people tune out.

To quote Barack Obama, "our time for change has come."

Great piece by author and Media Matters Fellow Eric Boehlert on the difficulties facing our friends at Fox in the upcoming year. I know, me too--tears:

Bottom line is that Fox News is in for a very rough 2008. And the umbrella reason for that is quite simple: Eight years ago the all-news cable channel went all-in on the presidency of George Bush and became a broadcast partner with the White House. Proof of that was on display Sunday night, January 27, during Fox News' prime-time, "Fighting to the Finish," an "historic documentary" on the final year of Bush's presidency. Filmed in HD and featuring "unprecedented access," according to the Fox News press release, the show was pure propaganda. (I must have missed Fox News' "Fighting to the Finish" special back in 2000, chronicling the conclusion of President Bill Clinton's second term and his "extraordinarily consequential tenure.")

The point is that Fox News years ago made an obvious decision to appeal almost exclusively to Republican viewers. The good news then for Fox News was that it succeeded. The bad news now for Fox News is that it succeeded.

Get out your popcorn and go read the rest. It seems their election coverage has been sucking it up in the ratings, way behind CNN. Getting. Too. Emotional. Must. Stop. Writing.

Sniffle.

Here is a look at the ratings in the A25-54 demo for Thursday's 9pmET hour (live+ same day DVR). Each network divided the hour differently in terms of start times and program names.

What stands out to me is how the Democratic response got bigger numbers than Bush's Happy Talk on CNN and Fixed Noise.

And even more interesting was how, on MSNBC, the numbers dropped for the address -- following Keith's Countdown. It's labeled as "Special Programming", but if I remember correctly, Keith directly preceded Bush, and ran right into it. His numbers beat Larry King's, too.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. If I'm right, then we get to gloat.

O’Reilly is quickly becoming the Little Train That Couldn’t.

The highpoint of the week for Olbermann was Friday when he bested O’Reilly in the 25-54 demo by 39,000 viewers. But the trend has been heading this way for a while. On Thursday, O’Reilly took the hour, but Olbermann had won the first half (Countdown: 408K - Factor: 373K). An average of all airings for the shows for the week gave O’Reilly a lead of just 11.7K demo viewers. A year ago O’Reilly was clobbering Olbermann by 279K. Are the walls closing in around you Billy?

Billo? Feel awful (falafel)? Sorry for the bad play on words. I couldn't help myself.

The first full week after Olbermann’s NBC appearance, Countdown spiked 17% over its 2nd quarter 2007 average. This week that bump is 37%, so there is no evidence that this train is losing speed. The Factor, on the other hand, is still under-performing its 2nd quarter average by 16%.

Go here for more details. Fun, fun details!
