Who's our little hypocrite? Who's our little womanizer? Why, it's the Conservative Crusader who swooped in to expose Bill Clinton's dastardly deeds, our very own self-proclaimed Open Marriager!

Margaret Ritchie Rhea Battle Scaife (whose friends call her Ritchie) suspected Richard Mellon Scaife (whose friends call him Dick) of committing adultery, so she enlisted the services of an investigator.

I think Dick is an appropriate name.

In his first interview in eight years, Richard Mellon Scaife, an heir to the Pittsburgh banking fortune who sunk nearly two million dollars into exposing Bill Clinton’s misdeeds and infidelities and is now facing the end of his second marriage because of an affair, tells Vanity Fair writer Michael Joseph Gross that philandering “is something that Bill Clinton and I have in common.” Scaife talks about a “very pleasant” lunch he and Clinton had last summer and says he “never met such a charismatic man in [his] whole life.” Asked whether his behavior is hypocritical given his political commitments, Scaife does not refer to moral principles but to his own history. His “first marriage ended with an affair,” he says, and he doesn’t believe monogamy is an essential part of a good marriage. “I don’t want people throwing rocks at me in the street. But I believe in open marriage.”

Here's a special bonus! He believes in gay marriage! I'm not sure he supports monogamous gay marriage, but he's for gay marriage just the same.

Does he think his best gay friends should be able to get married? Scaife throws his hand in the air and exclaims, “Yes, I do!”

I love right-wing propaganda groups. They're just so fun to laugh at. That's why when I saw the headline that Fox was the "most fair and balanced network," I decided, just for the hell of it, to read on.

And oh what I found. It turns out that the "study" was done by the Center For Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) housed at George Mason University. George Mason, for the uninitiated, is one of a few universities whose research organs have been entirely bought off by right-wing "think" tanks. Like with Pepperdine (some guy named Ken Starr, a serial liar and lawbreaking leaker of grand jury testimony, is the Dean of the law school), it is best to ask questions and look into the sponsors of any purportedly academic report.

It really sucks when you're a right-wing billionaire who also happens to be a complete jackoff and it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Scaife, as you may know, funds every right-wing cause from the Heritage Foundation to which hookers David Vitter uses. He has spent millions on pursuits such as the Arkansas Project, which used the American Spectator Magazine to try and bring down President Clinton (their efforts led to Lewinsky).

He also used his newspaper, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review to attack Teresa Heinz Kerry in 2004, as her former husband the late John Heinz was a Pennsylvania Senator.

But now Little Ricky suddenly doesn't like it when the spotlight is shining on his ugly divorce and accusations by his wife of all sorts of transgressions, including dognapping. Yes, he stole her dog.

Here is some more fun facts about the case:

Mr. Scaife's attempt to make court documents inaccessible is unusual for the head of a news organization. Historically, newspapers and television stations have fought for greater rather than more restricted access. In fact, Mr. Scaife's Tribune-Review joined other organizations in seeking to unseal the estate records of the late Sen. John Heinz during the presidential campaign of Sen. John F. Kerry, who is married to Sen. Heinz's widow, Teresa.
The court papers filed by Mr. Scaife's attorneys Friday ask the court to order PG Publishing Company and Post-Gazette Staff Writer Dennis B. Roddy to return the documents, which were the basis of Mr. Roddy's story in last Sunday's Post-Gazette that reported details of Mr. Scaife's pending divorce.
Mr. Scaife's attorneys say the Post-Gazette article describes "at length various highly confidential and personal matters contained in the record, none of which have any news value nor are legitimate subjects of public scrutiny."
But the Post-Gazette countered that the story is newsworthy, given the Scaifes' high profile in the community and the large amounts of money involved, particularly the enormous monthly support payments. The newspaper argues that Mr. and Mrs. Scaife have already put their divorce in the public domain with arrests for trespassing and assault, accusations of dognapping, and derogatory yard signs.
