Byrd is back and ready to vote

Good news, especially after having to post this:

Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) is back at work Thursday after having been discharged from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he had stayed since last week after suffering from a reaction to an antibiotic.
Byrd’s office said the senator left the hospital late Wednesday night and plans to cast his vote today on the Fiscal Year 2009 budget resolution.

We shouldn't have to rely on such narrow voting margins. Increased numbers of Dems in both Houses would help a lot of us breathe a lot easier. Please, get out and vote in November.

And I repeat, the Supreme Court is at stake, don't forget that... ever.

(Acknowledgment: Not every Democrat votes the way we'd like, understood. But a comfortable majority couldn't hurt.)

"In the fifth year of this misguided war, I am convinced that the best way to support our troops is to bring them home, and the only way to get them home may be to somehow restrict the funds for this disastrous war. We have tried this before and the President, the President, vetoed the bill. I am here today to insist that we must try again. Strings must be attached to this money. This Senator will support no more blank checks for Iraq."
