Hmmm.

Republican political operative Roger Stone, Eliot Spitzer's longtime antagonist, predicted his political demise more than three months in advance.
''Eliot Spitzer will not serve out his term as governor of the state of New York,'' Stone said Dec. 6 on Michael Smerconish's radio talk show. He gave no details.

Novak:

In truth, Stone had nothing to do with the investigation and said he had not heard about it when he made a prediction based on his general view of Spitzer.

That must have been why Novak wrote about it then. He couldn't have meant to imply anything. He's just making conversation. Slow day and all.

Robert Novak, yes THAT Robert Novak, makes sense

Pinch me. Bob Novak is accusing the Bush administration of turning a blind eye to Benazir Bhutto's security. Novakula also suggests that the Pakistani government murdered her. And he agrees with this post that the assassination was not typical of an Al-Qaeda attack.

The assassination of Benazir Bhutto followed urgent pleas to the State Department for the last two months by her representatives for better security protection. The U.S. reaction was that she was worried over nothing, expressing assurance that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf would not let anything happen to her. [...] It was, according to the written complaint, an attempt to preserve the politically endangered Musharraf as President Bush's man in Islamabad.

Sound familiar?

When I last saw Bhutto in August in Manhattan, she was deeply concerned about U.S. ambivalence but asked me not to write about it. She had not heard from Musharraf for three weeks after their secret July meeting in Abu Dhabi. She feared the Pakistani strongman was not being prodded from Washington.

Why would Bush prod him? That might be construed as the right thing to do.

In early December, a former Pakistani official supporting Bhutto visited a senior U.S. government official to renew her security requests. He got a brush-off, a mind-set reflected Dec. 6 in a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.

BushCo has so much blood on its hands, it makes the carnage in Sweeney Todd look like a paper cut.

A more sinister fallout of a free hand from Washington for Pakistan might be Bhutto's murder. Neither her shooting last Thursday nor the attempt on her life Oct. 18 bore the classic al-Qaida trademark. After the carnage, government trucks used streams of water to clean up the blood and in the process destroy forensic evidence. If not too late, would an investigation by the FBI still be in order?
Musharraf's critics say an election would be a sham with Bhutto dead.

One thing we all understand: Bush's hand in a sham election, no matter where it is.

Novak: GOP Could Lose 6-8 Senate Seats
From the latest Evans-Novak Political Report: "The decision not to run by Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) now raises to five the possible losses of Senate seats by Republicans. Democrats also are targeting Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) for a sixth seat. If 2008 turns into a Democratic landslide, Senators Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) and even Mitch McConnell (R-KY) could be in danger."

Personally, I think he's being overly optimistic.

Robert Novak Prays For A Blogless Afterlife, Anticipates Bush “Death Bump”

Robert “Plamethrower” Novak talks about his idea of heaven:

I’m 76 years old, and pretty soon I’m going to a place where there are no blogs.

I guess he’s hoping that no one in the afterlife will care that he unapologetically outed a covert CIA agent and protected a weasel like Karl Rove (though if there’s a hell, he’ll have to deal with plenty of KKK and Nazis). And speaking of good things about death, Novak went on to say this:

All presidents look better after they’re dead, and George W. Bush can count on that.

Wow. You know the president sucks when his death looks like the only thing that will pull his approval ratings out of the cellar, though playing the death card doesn’t seem to have done much good for Nixon. Or maybe Novak is just hoping that when he dies, he won't be remembered as a 115-year-old vampire demon or, perhaps, as the #1 Douchebag.

However, this might bring some hope to the Republican candidates. If Bush dies before the election, maybe they can take turns dragging his corpse around on the campaign trail, drafting off of Bush’s awesome “death bump”. Let’s see Obama beat that!
