Seems Rudy! has ticked off another big city's firefighters-

Rudy Giuliani's plan to ride in a Metro-Dade fire truck in tomorrow's Three Kings parade has outraged some firefighters who say the presidential candidate has ''lied'' about his 9/11 record because he did too little to equip and protect emergency workers.

Jim Riches, a recently retired New York firefighter featured in the union's media, told The Miami Herald that Giuliani doesn't deserve to go anywhere near a flag-draped fire truck.
''This is improper. Rudy lied about what he did on 9/11. He's giving the appearance he's backed by firefighters and he isn't,'' Riches said this morning, ``Rudy has to go all the way down to Florida to get firefighters to stand next to him because he can't get that support in New York.''

That "strength" Rudy was counting on (all the transplanted New Yorkers in Florida) works in both directions.

CHICAGO A new poll of Hispanic voters conducted for ImpreMedia's chain of Spanish-language newspapers finds that Hillary Clinton would trounce Rudy Giuliani, her closest Republican opponent, if the presidential election were held now.

The poll found registered Latino voters preferred Clinton by 42%. Giuliani, the most popular Republican, was favored by just 6%.

Hispanics who have made up their minds in the election say by big numbers that they intend to vote for a Democrat for president. Asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, 50.2% said a Democrat, while just 28.9% said a Republican.

made high-level appointments of openly LGBT people to his administration
signed domestic partner legislation in 1998 that at the time was the strongest such bill of its kind in the nation

(CNN) - A year after admitting to misdemeanor charges of financial impropriety, former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik faces new charges from a federal grand jury, sources familiar with the investigation said Thursday.
A sealed indictment against Kerik is expected to be unsealed on Friday, two sources familiar with the probe told CNN. No details of the charges involved were immediately available, but sources said earlier this week that prosecutors had been looking into allegations including bribery and tax evasion.

The best part? Unless he takes a plea deal, this trial will drag on during the busiest parts of the election year.

Minnesota Sen. Coleman endorses 'electable' Giuliani

WASHINGTON (AP) - Minnesota Sen. Norm Coleman said he's backing Rudy Giuliani for president, throwing his support behind a fellow "pragmatic" Republican and former mayor.
"The shared vision as mayor of getting things done, tied in with his strong stance on security, Rudy gets that," Coleman told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday. "So you tie those two together and it's a pretty powerful combination."
Coleman also called Giuliani "ultimately electable," a pitch that Giuliani has made throughout the campaign.
The two men got to know each other when Coleman was mayor of St. Paul, and Giuliani was mayor of New York City, and they have a lot in common.

Nice. Go read, but here's a taste-

In the race for the highest office in the land, we showed the collective maturity of 3-year-olds.
Mr. Gore was taken to task for his taste in clothing and for such grievous offenses as sighing or, allegedly, rolling his eyes. It was a given that at a barbecue everyone would rush to be with his opponent.
We've paid a heavy price. The president who got such high marks as a barbecue companion doesn't seem to know up from down. He's hurled the nation into a ruinous war that has cost countless lives and spawned a whole new generation of terrorists. He continues to sit idly by as a historic American city, New Orleans, remains wounded and on its knees. He's blithely steered the nation into a bottomless pit of debt.
