The Oxonian Society presents a discussion with Woody Harrelson.

Woody Harrelson is best known as the midwestern bartender, Woody Boyd, on the television series Cheers, for which he won an Emmy. Harrelson starred with Wesley Snipes in the hilarious comedy White Men Can't Jump. He then appeared in the controversial Indecent Proposal with Demi Moore and Robert Redford. Harrelson then went on to give a stunning performance as Mickey Knox in Oliver Stone’'s Natural Born Killers. He took the film world and press by storm again by starring opposite Courtney Love in The People vs. Larry Flynt. For his performance, he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. When Terrence Malick resurfaced on the film scene, he immediately put Harrelson in The Thin Red Line, which was nominated for multiple Academy Awards. Other Harrelson films that were widely received by audiences around the World include North Country, Edtv and Wag the Dog. More recently, he had a fairly long run on the sitcom Will & Grace as Grace's love interest Nathan. Whatever film or television sitcom Harrelson appears, the audience is always guaranteed a provocative performance by an extremely talented and humble person. - The Oxonian Society

...over and over and over again.

But Fox felt compelled to censor Sally Field's anti-war statement.

How American of them.

Fox thinks "f**k" is hilarious, "goddamn" is appalling

Cliff has given me the perfect segue into something that struck me last night.

Fox's Back to You premiered last night, and as sit-coms go, it wasn't bad. But that's not my point. Here is my point:

As a vehicle to get a guaranteed laugh, they appeared to copy The Daily Show's technique of letting F-bombs drop like crazy, making it obvious that f**k is being said by allowing the F and a nano-second of the K to be audible, but bleeping the U and the C.

Kelsey Grammer's character must have shouted "F**k!" 4 times in about 5 seconds. And you could read his lips. There was absolutely no doubt about what he was saying, and that he and the audience were relishing every monosyllablic outburst.

Sally Field said "Goddamn" and not only got silenced, but the cameras cut away completely, leaving us to wonder what the f**k happened. Her entire message was mangled. Kelsey Grammer's wasn't. We knew exactly what he was saying and that it was designed to evoke laughter.

The moral of Fox's Faux morals:

"F**k" is funny, but, goddamnit, bringing our troops home is worthy of censorship.

That's right, Fox only censored her because she used the "G-D word." Which they never allow on air. Except when they do.

Which is when it's not followed by an anti-war statement.

FOX censored Sally Field's anti-war comments during her acceptance speech at the Emmys.

Some people want to claim it's because she said "god damn", but clearly FOX has no qualms airing "god damn" cause on a recent FOX News program they aired it 5 times in the span of a couple of minutes.

Oh, and the FCC ruled that "goddamn" is perfectly acceptable on broadcast television.

FOX just didn't want you to hear what Sally said, and the majority of Americans already know, that "if mothers ruled the world there'd be no goddamn wars in the first place."
