Wilkinson said they followed him to the street, where Barba, a professional Australian rules football player, punched him in the face.</p> <p>Wilkinson's nose and a rib were broken. He also required 30 stitches to his face.</p> <p>The sailors' defense attorney, Matthew J. O'Connor, told Superior Court Judge Charles G. Rogers during a pretrial hearing in January that the two men thought Wilkinson was leaving to get a gun.
