It’s official, straight from the mouth of Bush’s former press secretary, Scott McClellan — FOX is Republican propaganda.

From Chris Matthews’ interview with McClellan last Friday, 7/25/08 (full transcript):

MATTHEWS: Did you see FOX television as a tool when you were in the White House, as a useful avenue for getting your message out?

MCCLELLAN: Well, I make a distinction between the journalists and between the commentators. Certainly, there were commentators and others, pundits, at FOX News that were helpful to the White House. Certainly, we got talking points [to] those people.

MATTHEWS: Did people say, call Sean [Hannity], call Bill [O'Reilly], call whoever? Did you do that as a regular thing?

MCCLELLAN: Certainly. Certainly. It wasn‘t necessarily something I was doing, but it was something that we at the White House, yes, were doing and getting them talking points and making sure they knew where we were coming from. –snip-

MATTHEWS: You were using these commentators as your spokespeople?

MCCLELLAN: Well, certainly. I mean, certainly.

Of course, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who frequents this site, though it is nice to have official confirmation. McClellan went on to try to draw a distinction between FOX’s “commentators” and their “journalists,” but FOX has purposefully blurred the line between the two. That’s how “journalist” Brit Hume suddenly becomes a noxious hard right “commentator” when he’s a guest on other FOX shows and how “commentators” like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity can claim to be “journalists” doing “investigations” when they want to give their propaganda an air of legitimacy. And if you think FOX maintains some sort of principled policy delineating the two, well, you probably also believe they’re “Fair & Balanced.”

Bill O’Reilly has gone so far into overdrive trying to protect his dear leader that he really doesn’t seem to know which end is up anymore. First, he claimed that the US didn’t invade Iraq. And now, in his recent interview with Scott McClellan, BOR tried to claim that nuclear weapons aren’t WMDs and Colin Powell didn’t talk about nukes when he gave his infamous presentation to the UN. Keith Olbermann breaks it down.

Seems like BOR has gone from rewriting history to trying to rewrite reality. The big thing to notice is the confidence with which he speaks, even when he’s completely making things up, then when he’s unequivocably confronted with one of his lies, he just brushes it off like it never happened. He’s willing to throw out any ridiculous claim to see if it sticks or if his guest will call him on it.

I really think that most of his viewers assume that if BOR says something with conviction, he couldn’t possibly be lying. But if he keeps venturing into total crackpot bizarro world with claims like these, even his viewers might not be able to remain in his fantasy kingdom. As we know from the Andrea Mackris transcripts, BOR has a very vivid imagination, especially when it comes to Caribbean shower fantasies…

Can anyone tell me what the hell a “verbal rape” is?

For some reason, that’s what Bill O’Reilly thinks the media is doing to George W. Bush in the wake of former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception. This is how BOR described it during his interview with McClellan:

MCCLELLAN: I'm trying to take my partisan hat off and look at the real problems we've got in this country and D.C. And how do we fix those? That's what I did. It's much larger than the president or Karl Rove or any one person. This is about something bigger. And that's the message that has been getting lost while people try to turn this book into a gotcha points. It's not about that. It's about sharing my experiences so we can learn from it.

O'REILLY: Then why didn't you lecture the far-left guys who did turn it into gotcha points? Why didn't you tell that to them?

MCCLELLAN: I think I did say that same message that people have been trying to turn this into gotcha points. And we need to focus on the larger message.

O'REILLY: You sat there while these people at NBC and some at CNN just raped the president verbally. Just killed him. And you sat there and you did not defend him. You didn't do it.

MCCLELLAN: I said he's a good man. I still have personal affection for him.

O'REILLY: You said that, but you allowed them to do that in your presence.

“Raped the president verbally”? Seriously, what the fuck does that mean?

How do you “verbally rape” someone? Does BOR actually think that discussing the lies, failures, and broken promises of the Bush administration as discussed in a book is somehow the equivalent of the media violently forcing Bush to have sex with them? What kind of perverted bizarro world is that? Exactly how was Bush violated? Did BOR defend Bill Clinton as the victim of verbal rape during the coverage of the Monica Lewinsky trial? If I receive a bad job evaluation because I am genuinely bad ay my job, have I been verbally raped?

It takes a look into the reasons that President Bush wanted to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It looks into Karl Rove and I. Scooter Libby's role in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case, and Vice President Dick Cheney's accidental shooting of a friend in Texas. The Bush Administration, FOX News and talk radio pundits attack the former press secretary. The pundits are slamming his book (even before they read it).

Senator John McCain denounces John Hagee and Rod Paisley. Just when you think it was over, Senator Joseph Lieberman decides to attend Hagee's Christian-Israel Event. Where is the news coverage of that! The pundits want Senator McCain to pick a conservative vice presidential candidate. Is there a chance former governor Mitt Romney may take the second spot?

Senator Hillary Clinton referred to the plight and assassination of Robert F. Kennedy for her reasons to stay in the Democratic race. The media thinks that was Clinton's biggest gaffe due to the illness of Senator Ted Kennedy, and thoughts of a possible assassination attempt of Senator Obama riled up the Black community. Some of her supporters such as Geraldine Ferraro, wage war against Senator Barack Obama for being sexist and declare they may support Senator McCain.

I can't stand Rachael Ray. But I really can't stand Michelle Malkin. The shrew of the digital media, has called for boycotts against Dunkin Donuts over Ray's scarf. Last year Malkin led a boycott against Verizon for R & B crooner Akon's boogie with teen.

Father Michael Pfleger, a Catholic priest has been viewed on YouTube taking to task FOX News anchors (Bill O'Reilly, in particular last month). This time he is making disparaging comments about Senator Clinton. The Obama campaign denounced the comments. Hence, how this became an issue? Aaron Kline! In the last video "Better Lay Off Obama's Church", I mentioned Kline's role in this smear campaign on Senator Obama. And where did I find the video. Hunter and Thompson, a duo of "investigative" journalists have ties to conservative opinion journal WorldNetDaily.

Congressman Ron Paul supporters are angered so much about the lack of coverage of their candidate; they plan to shake up the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.

Libertarian candidate former Republican Georgia congressman Bob Barr enters the race. This may shake up Senators McCain and Obama.
