They keep telling us that since it's a matter of human rights and there are still 2-3 million votes note counted - we should wait. Meanwhile, the YES people are dancing in the streets - rejoicing their PREJUDICE!!!

Yet even if we manage to squeak out a last minute victory (which seems at this point a tenuous hope at best) I know that in "liberal" Los Angeles county where I live, the vote was split 50% - 50%. As I write this it seems that there were only 20,806 more votes for Prop 8 than against.

So as I walk around today, one out of every two people I see DO NOT want me to have equal rights. They see me as inferior, because I'm gay. And that is so hurtful, and it makes me unbelievably mad. It makes me want to scream at them. Makes me want to try to hurt every one of the over 5,160,000 California voters for Prop 8 in a way that makes them understand how they've made me feel. How much they failed in their attempt to belittle, to marginalize, to shame me and my love.

But my challenge - my true challenge of character - is that the OTHER one of those two people DO want me to have equal rights. They DO value me as a human being, and they DO believe that our country really does stand for "Liberty and Justice For ALL" and that "All" includes Gay Americans like me. I want to hug them. All 4,760,000 plus of them.

And as I walk around, I have no idea who is who.

So I have a choice. Succumb to the tidal wave of bitterness that threatens to overwhelm me? See the glass as half empty, see everyone as a potential Nazi Gay-hating jerk?

Or see the good? Believe the glass is half-full? Take heart at the progress Gay Americans have made in such a relatively short time, compared to the slow progress of public opinion in "approving" interracial marriage?

It is confusing and emotional. And it has totally ruined my Obama day. The black community voted 75% FOR 8. shocking. it wasnt' so long ago they didn't have rights. I don't understand. Why would anyone not want Cooper to be equal?

GIMME THE MIKE behind the scenes with Contestants and Judges

Sam was one of the Judges in the annual "Gimme The Mike" singing competition in Oklahoma this year. He introduces you to the Contestants and other Judges along the way. There's two reclining chairs in the front row which we find out was for the winners of the "Best Seats In The House" contest, and later meet them as well. Sam's rehearses for his performance, and you see a few contestants getting ready as well. This year's winner of the competition was TJ Spears. The other finalists included Larry Escalanta, Sarah Hutchison, Jonathan Arnold, Kristyn Paschal and Allison Gilliland.

Invasion of the Vlog People! War with Angels in the Republic

Sam takes you backstage before his Republic concert in Hollywood. We meet Lloyd Cook, and Todd Schroeder attempts a little nipple play before they go on. Bridget Moynahan is in the audience, apparently to provide sexual frustration for anyone with a libido. Sam encounters Vlog People, Vicki and Mindy, and the drama that goes along with being Vicki and Mindy! He explains "Vlog People" to the audience and we get another version of "War On War" with Todd forced to sing backup! He closes this video with a live performance of "Only Angels Know". Vicki was Sam's temporary camerawoman.

Singer, songwriter, actor, film and television writer, director, producer! Who can fill all those roles effectively and come out on Birdland's stage with a powerful, soaring voice that reaches the Heavens? SAM HARRIS! Casual in jeans and Superman T-shirt, this grand champion of the premiere season of Star Search is joyous and by all means FREE. After recording several CDs and selling multi-millions of copies, Sam likes to call his new album a record -- a record of his experiences, a collection of being Free (ad title song of the new CD).

Most songs on this record were written by Harris alone or with his long time friend and Musical Director Todd Schroeder. Much of the CD was recorded only after a few hours sleep, many songs on one take. Why? Because Sam is the proud papa of Cooper Atticus/Harris-Jacobsen, now 4 months old, who has taken over the life, breathe, heart, soul and world of Sam Harris and his long time partner Danny. He is giddy and overcome with joy in his role as parent and that is what drives the passion and expressive feelings that pour out on every song from this pop-rock wunderkind.

"Anchor of Love" (Harris/Schroeder) a rock ballad filled with momentous lyrics must be a hymn to Cooper Atticus as is "When You Appear" (Harris/Schroeder), where Harris soars brilliantly as he takes flight at the wonder and thrill when he is with his new son. "I Love You More" (music/lyric Kevin Fisher) is a highlight of one-upmanship and "He Is" (Schroeder/Sullivan/Harris) is one of Sam's most important songs, a male love song, sung with guitar (William Rottman playing) and bongos. Sam says he can write and sing these songs because "I am free; show biz is a prison." "Before You Go" (Harris/Schroeder) is a tear jerker about people who are parting and trying for one more chance. It is presented with simplicity and a reality that touches the soul.

His Obama campaign theme song, "Change Is on the Way," was sung to a track with band and back-up singers. On "War on War," a political hallelujah, he was joined by guest artist, soul singer Maya Azucena. Some Harris insights shared along the way include "up-tempo songs are tragedy with a beat."

Harris has had an outstanding career, including Broadway as a Drama Desk nominee in Grease; a Tony, Outer Critic's Circle, Drama Desk Nominations for Cy Coleman's The Life, and also appeared in The Producers.
