I stated that Black Liberation Theology can not be summed with a couple of quotes. I said that Black Liberation Theology was not frozen in time. Bigticer takes it to the extreme by implying the Black Liberation Theology was the equivalent of terrorist organizations. Here is his quote down below, the response to my comment.

"So, bin laden's alqueda in 2031 will be different because their hatred of america is not 'frozen in time' by the same token the kkk of 2008 should be given some slack because their attitude isn't 'frozen in time'"
--Bigticer

The only way for the KKK to be remotely equal to Black Liberation Theology is if White people were dominated by Black people for 300 years. That is the only way to make a fair comparison. Black Liberation Theology is about equality. It has evolved with the times.

Last Thursday was the forty-fifth anniversary of the day civil rights leader Medgar Evers was assassinated outside his home in Jackson, Mississippi. Evers fought segregation of schools and public places, struggled to increase black voter registration, led business boycotts, and brought attention to the murders and lynchings, like the slaying of black teenager Emmett Till.

We speak to Medgar Evers' widow, the civil rights activist Myrlie Evers-Williams.

Complete video at: fora.tv

Stanford Law Professor Richard Thompson Ford examines America's legacy of racial segregation and its impact on the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

-----

Richard Thompson Ford considers "The Race Card: How Bluffing About Bias Makes Race Relations Worse."

The George E. Osborne Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, Richard Thompson Ford has published regularly on civil rights, constitutional law, race relations, and antidiscrimination law. In his new book, he asks what Katrina victims waiting for federal disaster relief, millionaire rappers buying vintage champagne, Ivy League professors waiting for taxis, and ghetto hustlers trying to find steady work have in common, and answers that all have claimed to be victims of racism.

Few people these days express openly racist beliefs or defend bigoted motives. So lots of people are victims of bigotry, but no one's a bigot? Ford considers whether a lot of people are lying about their true beliefs and motivations, or if a lot of people are jumping to unwarranted conclusions or just playing the race card.

Ford brings sophisticated legal analysis, lively and eye-popping anecdotes, and plain old common sense to this heated topic, offering ways to separate valid claims from bellyaching, and calling for us to treat racism as a social problem that must be objectively understood and honestly evaluated - Cody's Books

A new film from Big Noise.

In a small town in Louisiana, six families are fighting for their sons' lives.

Two nooses are left as a warning to black students trying to integrate their playground, fights break out across town, a white man pulls a shotgun on black students, someone burns down most of the school, the DA puts six black students on trial for attempted murder, and the quiet town of Jena becomes the site of the largest civil rights demonstration in the South since the 1960s.

The Jena 6 is the story of hidden racial inequality and violence becoming visible. It is a powerful symbol for, and example of, how racial justice works in America -- where the lynching noose has been replaced by the DA's pen.

Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer discusses his views on the terms "judicial activism" and "judicial restraint."

-----

"Democracy and the Court" with Justice Stephen Breyer in conversation with Jeffrey Rosen at the 2007 Aspen Ideas Festival.

Some of the most inspired and provocative thinkers, writers, artists, business people, teachers and other leaders drawn from myriad fields and from across the country and around the world all gathered in a single place - to teach, speak, lead, question, and answer at the 2006 Aspen Ideas Festival. Throughout the week, they all interacted with an audience of thoughtful people who stepped back from their day-to-day routines to delve deeply into a world of ideas, thought, and discussion.

Stephen G. Breyer, Associate Justice, was born in San Francisco, California, August 15, 1938.

He received an A.B. from Stanford University, a B.A. from Magdalen College, Oxford, and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School. He served as a law clerk to Justice Arthur Goldberg of the Supreme Court of the United States during the 1964 Term, as a Special Assistant to the Assistant U.S. Attorney General for Antitrust, 1965-1967, as an Assistant Special Prosecutor of the Watergate Special Prosecution Force, 1973, as Special Counsel of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, 1974-1975, and as Chief Counsel of the committee, 1979-1980.

He was an Assistant Professor, Professor of Law, and Lecturer at Harvard Law School, 1967-1994, a Professor at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, 1977-1980, and a Visiting Professor at the College of Law, Sydney, Australia and at the University of Rome.

From 1980-1990, he served as a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and as its Chief Judge, 1990-1994. He also served as a member of the Judicial Conference of the United States, 1990-1994, and of the United States Sentencing Commission, 1985-1989.

President Clinton nominated him as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and he took his seat August 3, 1994.

John Mellencamp decided to write a song and produce a music video about the "Jena 6" while he was working on a new album. This is the statement he released.

I am not a journalist, I am a songwriter and in the spirit and tradition of the minstrel, I am telling a story in this song. The story is not, strictly speaking, about the town of Jena or this specific incident but of racism in America. The song was not written as an indictment of the people of Jena but, rather, as a condemnation of racism, a problem which I've reflected in many songs, a problem that still plagues our country today. The current trial in Jena is just another reflection of prejudice in our nation. If the song strikes an emotional chord with people and if they examine it and interpret as they will, something will have been accomplished. The aim here is not to antagonize but, rather, to catalyze thought.

Jena, Louisiana. Six black teenagers are accused of beating a white student. The incident followed white students hanging nooses from a tree on school grounds. Initially five of the "Jena Six" teens were charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, to be tried as adults by an all-white jury.

If you get sentenced to 22 years for a schoolyard fight by a jury of your peers consisting on no one that looks like you, it is obvious that something or someone is out to get you for some reason. Please take a look at the petition at www.petitiononline.com/aZ51CqmR/petition.html.

With today being the tragic anniversary of the greatest natural disaster ever to hit the United States, it is tragic that Katrina's racial undertones and implications would be followed by more racially deplorable happenings in the state of Louisiana.
