Her many posts have included Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen, Deputy Chief of Mission to Kuwait during the first Gulf War and the first coalition coordinator for reconstruction of Baghdad after the US invasion in 2003 - World Affairs Council of Northern California

Ambassador Barbara K. Bodine is lecturer and diplomat-in-residence at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs where she teaches courses on the Iraq War and on US diplomacy in the Middle East as it relates to the Persian Gulf region and southwest Asia, and also serves as a resource for students interested in careers in public service.

Bodine's over 30 years in the US Foreign Service were spent primarily on Arabian Peninsula and greater Persian Gulf issues, specifically US bilateral and regional policy, strategic security issues, counterterrorism, and governance and reform. Her tour as Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen 1997-2001, saw enhanced support for democratization and increased security and counterterrorism cooperation, the establishment of a coast guard, resumption of Fulbright scholarships for Yemeni students, initiation of a $40 million/year economic assistance and development program, and an indigenous landmine awareness and demining program.

Bodine also served in Baghdad as Deputy Principal Officer during the Iran-Iraq War, Kuwait as Deputy Chief of Mission during the Iraqi invasion and occupation of 1990-1991, and again, seconded to the Department of Defense, in Iraq in 2003 as the senior State Department official and the first coalition coordinator for reconstruction in Baghdad and the central governorates.

Suicide bombers are terrorists who attach explosives to themselves, and, consequently, die along with their victims in a bombing attack. During World War II, Japanese pilots -- kamikaze pilots -- flew airplanes laden with explosives directly into enemy warships, dying in the process. The Viet Minh used suicide bombings as a form of rebellion against the French after WWII.

Often referred to as "homicide bombers," the current phenomenon gained notoriety with the bombings of civilians in Israel by members of Arab militant groups, such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Other guerilla groups which have employed suicide-bombing attacks include the Tamil Tigers and the Kurdistan Workers Party. In Iraq, the method of warfare was adopted in order to kill groups of soldiers. The terrorist attack on the United States on September 11, 2001, was the most widely-felt suicide bombing to date.

Often terrorism is supported by organizations which both directly underwrite the terrorist activity, and promise to provide for those left behind, freeing bombers from worry about their families' futures.

Islam (Arabic: الإسلام; al-'islām (help·info)) is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion originating with the teachings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, a seventh century Arab religious and political figure. The word Islam means "submission", or the total surrender of oneself to God (Arabic: الله, Allāh). An adherent of Islam is known as a Muslim, meaning "one who submits [to God]". There are between 1 billion to 1.8 billion Muslims, making Islam the second-largest religion in the world, after Christianity.

Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, God's final prophet, and regard the Qur'an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam. They do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. Islamic tradition holds that Jews and Christians distorted the revelations God gave to these prophets by either altering the text, introducing a false interpretation, or both.

Islam includes many religious practices. Adherents are generally required to observe the Five Pillars of Islam, which are five duties that unite Muslims into a community. In addition to the Five Pillars, Islamic law (sharia) has developed a tradition of rulings that touch on virtually all aspects of life and society. This tradition encompasses everything from practical matters like dietary laws and banking to warfare and welfare.

Almost all Muslims belong to one of two major denominations, the Sunni (85%) and Shi'a (15%). The schism developed in the late 7th century following disagreements over the religious and political leadership of the Muslim community. Islam is the predominant religion throughout the Middle East, as well as in major parts of Africa and Asia. Large communities are also found in China, the Balkan Peninsula in Eastern Europe and Russia. About 20% of Muslims live in Arab countries, 30% in the Indian subcontinent and 15.6% in Indonesia, the largest Muslim country by population.

Yemen bomb leads to clashes with Shia fighters - 3 May 2008

Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra reports on the government troops reported to have clashed with Shia fighters in northern Yemen, hours after a mosque was bombed.

Funerals are being held for the 18 worshippers killed, who included soldiers from a nearby barracks.

The attack in Sa'ada adds to the thousands already killed in a four year conflict. It also throws into a doubt a peace deal revived earlier this year.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting, mistakenly said Tuesday that Iran was allowing al-Qaida fighters into the country to be trained and returned to Iraq.

McCain, expressing concern about Iran's rising sway in the Mideast, said, "Al-Qaida is going back into Iran and is receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran." He made the comments Tuesday at a news conference in Jordan; he made similar comments earlier to radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt.

Iran is a predominantly Shiite Muslim country and has been at pains to close its borders to al-Qaida fighters of the rival Sunni sect.

I took the chance given to me to see for myself all the noise the media was making on Iran, and I was first attracted to this nation because of a speech given by its president Ahmadinejad, in which he basically suggested to west to stop selling its spiritualism (which really shocked me in terms of spiritual evolution).
Some conclusions are included in this video, and many images that contributed to them couldnt fit in, but they are still there.
