Their stories, our stories, deserve to be documented. </p><p><a href="http://www.tampabays10.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=78927">Mario Munoz</a> (28), came to the United States when he was 9 years old and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area most of his life. But on March 19, he was put into detention together with his family and they are now awaiting deportation to Colombia.&nbsp;</p><p>&ldquo;I knew he was illegal when I told him that I loved him so much that I could marry him tomorrow. Then he told me&hellip; and I would have married him then. I&#39;m sorry I didn&#39;t,&rdquo; said&nbsp; Kelly Luce, his fiance.&nbsp;</p><p>Mario is currently being held at Hernando County jail and may be deported in under two weeks.</p><p>Then we have <a href="http://www.nbc10.com/newsarchive/15837927/detail.html">Anya Gorlova</a> who has been living in the United States since she was six years old. Originally from Belarus, she was sent here LEGALLY by her grandparents to live with a relative since she lost both her parents at a young age. Anya was legally adopted when she was 12 and it is now that ICE has noticed something &#39;wrong&#39; with her immigration papers filed back in 1996. Anya is now a senior in high school and aspires to be a teacher. But her dreams might be dashed soon if she is deported back to Belarus--a country she does not know.</p><p>The icing on the cake is the story of <a href="http://www.kentucky.com/779/story/380912.html">Lino Nakwa</a>, who has been here legally since he was 12 years old back in 1992. Originally from Sudan, Lino was kidnapped, tortured, and watched his father die before he escaped to the United States and received refugee protection. Now, 16 years later, Homeland Security wants to deport him because he may pose a &quot;national security&quot; threat since Nakwa received &quot;military-type&quot; training. Lets hope that a federal review of his case stays this preposterous deportation proceeding since time is running out for Nakwa to be eligible under the DREAM Act. </p><p><strong><u>Know other DREAMers facing deportation? Maybe I should try my hand at song-writing)</p><p>Saturday is a long drawn out janitorial day for this MA-educated, class-topping queer alien blogger. So how can you help make life easier for your poor janitor?</p><p>For starters, stop eating sunflower seeds at work or invest in peeled ones if you cannot get the small skins into the big trash can sitting beside your feet. &nbsp;</p><p>Why is it so hard to handle paper punch so that most of the&nbsp; punched holes do not end up all over the floor?&nbsp;</p><p>Please, not all your janitors are &#39;no hablo ingles&#39; and I am &#39;no hablo espanyol&#39; so maybe you can write the note to your janitor in 2 different languages i.e.&#39;no basura&#39; or &#39;not trash&#39;</p><p>You want me to vacuum your floor? It would help if I could actually see the floor beneath those reams of paper, or move around in that little museum you call your office. </p><p>I am a janitor, not the roto-rooter, so do not expect me to unblock the passageways of the toilet. I may be fluid in a lot of ways but I don&#39;t work with shit.&nbsp;</p><p>I swear I did not steal this janitorial contract from a fellow legal American; I am just more qualified to empty the trash, mop the floors and vacuum the carpets.</p><p>Don&#39;t throw the half-full coffee cup into the trash so it can seep all over the trashcan. Empty it out in the sink instead. Same goes for any liquids.&nbsp; </p><p>The bathroom is NOT the place to sit and read the newspaper and neither is the bathroom floor the place to pile them up. Use the recycle bin.</p><p>Speaking of recycle, don&#39;t bother putting the paper in the blue recycle bin and feeling all good about your little environmentalist act because if your worksite doesn&#39;t have a recycling dumpster, it all gets emptied into the regular one.&nbsp;</p><p>Do you walk with your hands up the glass door at the building entrance? No? Then why are your paw marks left all over the glass door every night instead of the handle that you should use to close and open the door? </p><p>Since we are on the subject of leaving marks while walking, stop walking on the wet floor with your dirty shoes unless you want to help me clean up your mess again! </p><p>I don&#39;t know about you but as long as there is dirt, I will have a job unless they figure out a way to outsource that too. No justification has been given for this action and the nature of the charges against Sam have not been made clear as is stipulated in the standing orders for disciplinary procedures.</p> <p>Sam has been under attack recently for her chairing of the Annual General Meeting of the students union (March 5th) at which motions to twin with Palestinian universities and to end military recruitment at freshers fayre were passed. These democratically passed motions have resulted in a backlash from students who oppose them and the tabloid press, but rather than attempting to overturn them through the democratic channels of the union, members of the executive of UCL Union are underhandedly attempting to get the whole meeting annuled by first suspending Sam and then passing an illegal motion to governance committee instructed it to overturn the resolutions of the general meeting.</p> <p>Inaccurate reports of that meeting have been circulated which ignore key facts - such as the fact that illegal attempts to call quoracy while leaving the room were made.</p> <p>The fact that despite all the attacks on Sam no reason was given for suspending her shows that no misconduct can be found in Sam's chairing of the meeting where she was faced with heckling, numerous attempts at disruption and a vote of no-confidence which was not upheld by the floor.</p> <p>It is therefore obvious that this suspension is politically motivated. It is part of a wider attempt to get the entire proceedings of the agm overturned (including all the motions voted on democratically by ucl students) orchestrated by a faction of students who disagree with the way the votes went.</p> <p>It is vital that UCL students stand up for our elected General Secretary against this shameful, unsubstantiated, and politically motivated attack and defend the democratic process at our union. We must resist any sinister attempts by the union exec to undermine decisions made at the AGM, the most democratic body of the union at which students can directly participate in influencing union policy. Congress passed President Bush's law, but the president has not kept up his side of the bargain, and the lack of funding for implementation has severely hampered the law's popularity and efficacy. Because the presidential election is in full swing, some analysts and commentators are now expressing skepticism about whether the law will be reauthorized this year.</p> <p>Important changes are surely needed to make the No Child Left Behind more effective, but the law has led to progress in improving achievement for all students, particularly low-income and minority children.
