The Maria Leavey Award will be presented annually to an unsung hero of the progressive movement whose behind-the-scenes labor makes a big difference for social justice. The award commemorates the life of Maria Leavey, a political operative of extraordinary talent, commitment, and selflessness, who passed away much too young, on December 31, 2006.
