"You've accused Obama of doing something wrong," Olbermann told Palin, "of being something evil--something you boasted of doing and being yourself just two months ago."<br /><br />Republicans across the country have recently been describing Barack Obama as a "socialist," seizing on his remark to Joe the Plumber that it would help the country to "share the wealth." McCain himself first tried out the label "Barack the Redistributor" and then--realizing, suggested Olbermann, "that sounded like an auto part"--modified the jab to "Redistributionist in Chief."<br /><br />Palin has gone even further, recently saying to an Iowa audience, "Under a big government tax agenda, what you thought was yours would really start belonging to somebody else, to everybody else.... I mean, it's collectivist, sharing-the-wealth, socialist communism, I'd say."<br /><br />"And still," Olbermann added slyly, "none of that sounds familiar to you, Governor?"<br /><br />Olbermann then revealed that two months ago, Palin <a href="http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2008/11/03/081103taco_talk_hertzberg">boasted</a> to a reporter of how she had been able to send $1200 to every person in her state because "Alaska--we're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs." She added that "Alaska is sometimes described as America's socialist state because of its collective ownership of resources."<br /><br />"You said that, Governor!" Olbermann proclaimed. "You're the share-the-wealth, collectivist, almost socialist governor ... who also believes that income, property, inventory, and investments collectively belonging to everybody else leads to a misuse of power ... turnin' countries into places where the people are not free. Then they go to the door for their candy, with their new found sense of safety and when they return, he is holding the sickle once again.
