Over five million people have died during the past decade as a result of the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Few Americans are aware of the unimaginable scale of human suffering, death, and destruction in this vast country located deep in the heart of Africa. In the aftermath of this brutal war, children have endured the brunt of the suffering. This 56 minute film documents the plight of thousands of street children living in Kinshasa as well as the wide-spread accusations of child witchcraft, torture and prostitution. This documentary also examines the efforts being made to reintegrate demobilized child soldiers, displaced refugees, and orphaned children following the volcanic eruption near the city of Goma, in Eastern Congo, and to bring some measure of hope and stability to the lives of the Congolese people following the democratic elections in 2006.

Mar. 7 - Spectacular lava from Mount Kilauea in Hawaii is flowing into the Pacific ocean. Lava from the Kilauea volcano began flowing into the Pacific ocean on Thursday (March 6) as one of the most active volcanoes in the world continued to erupt. Officials were preparing an observation area near the site that would allow spectators to view the eruption safely, but shifting winds and high sulfur dioxide emission have kept it closed for now. Kilauea has erupted 34 times since 1952, with the most recent round of activity beginning in January 1983.
